Abstract

About a third of stroke sufferers in the world experience permanent disability. Stroke occurs when the brain's blood vessels fail to supply oxygen to the brain cells or when the brain cells do not receive nutrients and oxygen from the blood. Stroke symptoms usually appear suddenly, with loss of strength on one side of the body, confusion, difficulty speaking and understanding, problems with vision, difficulty walking, headaches, and loss of balance. This can be prevented from happening by adopting a healthy lifestyle. The service method used is the lecture and question and answer method with people who are at risk of stroke. The result of this service activity is that there has been an increase in public knowledge about stroke prevention, which is the result of this service activity. This activity is also very important to carry out, especially targeting people with hypertension who are no longer able to comply with taking anti-hypertension medication and adopting a healthy lifestyle, so they need to provide education or socialization about stroke prevention.

Abstract

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a non-communicable disease (NCD), which is a condition where blood pressure increases above the normal threshold of 120/80 mmHg; this includes an increase in systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg in two measurements taken over five minutes in a resting or calm state. Red ginger also functions to lower blood pressure because the compounds contained in ginger have a mechanism that can inhibit the activity of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) so that it can reduce high blood pressure. The aim of this activity is to empower the community in the use of red ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) in reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers in Taratara Satu Village. The result of this service activity is an increase in knowledge about the flow of outpatient patient registration. This activity is very important because patients and families need fast and precise service, so it is necessary to provide counseling or socialization about the flow of outpatient registration.
