Abstract

Improving gross motor skill in early childhood education is very important. However, few qualitative studies have investigated teachers’ experience of teaching gross motor skill with obese children. The purpose of this present study is to explore the early childhood educators’ experiences of teaching gross motor skill children with obesity from six kindergartens in the Yogyakarta district. Nine teachers participated in this study. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews. Data also were qualitatively analyzed using the phenomenological study with the Moustakas model. Four thematic categories emerged: positive perception; flexibility; diverse role, and barriers. Teachers described the feeling when teaching gross motor for obese children, the flexibility of gross motor teaching. Teachers also expressed how the role was used for obese children and having barriers faced by teachers. Implications of these findings are discussed and recommendations are made for future research.

Abstract

Kebijakan pendidikan di Negara maju telah menghilangkan permainan bebas. Permainan bebas merupakan jenis permainan yang lazim dilakukan anak baik di lingkungan, sekolah dan keluarga. tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendiskusikan tentang  permainan bebas dalam kerangka kebijakan pendidikan. Tulisan ini mengurai dari konsep bermain, permainan bebas sampai beberapa manfaat yang tampak dari beberapa hasil penelitian. Adapun kajian ini dikaitkan dengan beberapa pandangan para ahli sebagai refleksi untuk memformat pelayanan pendidikan anak usia dini yang bermutu. Praktek permainan bebas dalam pendidikan anak usia dini menuai pro dan kontra. Keduanya memiliki argumentasi dalam memahami permainan bebas.Permainan bebas semestinya perlu dipahami secara menyeluruh oleh berbagai pihak seperti keluarga, praktisi dan pembuat kebijakan berkenaan tentang manfaat yang dapat diperoleh bagi anak usia dini.

Abstract

Based on the preliminary study, the researcher sees the problem that educators still have difficulties in learning science in the independent learning curriculum, but education must ensure that teaching and learning activities continue according to the level of early childhood development, and with government regulations regarding the renewal of the KTSP curriculum to become an independent curriculum. Basically the curriculum aims to encourage the development of children's potential so that they are ready to take further education. So that this results in less effective science learning where teaching and learning activities are disrupted and the level of achievement of children does not develop according to the level of achievement due to changes in the curriculum. This type of research is mixed research using a quantitative approach. This study uses a mixed method "Explanatory mixed Methods design", namely quantitative and qualitative research methods sequentially. The research method of a combination model or Sequential Explanatory design is a quantitative and qualitative research method sequentially. The results of this study are seen on a quantitative basis, namely science learning with a value of 86.21 and on a qualitative basis, namely observing, classifying, estimating and comparing

Abstract

The dynamics of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) learning in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) are still in problem from teachers. Meanwhile, the professional development of early childhood teachers is still far from being effective. Whereas the field of engineering as a STEAM domain has been developed and integrated into the early childhood curriculum. The purpose of this study was to determine the views of early childhood teachers on engineering. The survey study was conducted involving 79 PAUD teachers. Data was collected through an instrument scale that has been created and shared online. Analysis of research data was carried out with descriptive statistics and assisted by SPSS. Then the independent sample t-test was conducted to measure the differentiation of PAUD teachers. The results of the study show that PAUD teachers have a high level of perception about the importance of engineering and perceptions of engineers. However, PAUD teachers have a low level of familiarity with engineering and are faced with many challenges. The implication of this research is the improvement of the PAUD teacher professional development program and the provision of engineering courses for early childhood prospective teachers.

Abstract

Teacher performance assessment is an important factor for improving teacher performance. Teacher who have good performance will affect the academic results of students and madrasah. One of the factors influencing teacher performance appraisal is head of madrasah. The assessment model used depends on the experience of the head of the madrasah. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the head of the madrasah in assessing teacher performance and describing the use of teacher performance appraisal model. The research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Ikhsan Beji Purwokerto with qualitative research method and descriptive approach. Data were collected by interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The analysis used is qualitative approach with Miles and Huberman model. The result showed that the practice of performance appraisal in Madrasah Aliyah Al-Ikhsan Beji not yet maximal, as for factors that influence the lack of appraiser, assessment aspect, utilization of teacher performance appraisal result. While the model used is Behavior Observation Scale (BOS) and Field Review model.

Abstract

Setiap anak dilahirkan dengan memiliki harga diri (self-esteem) yang bertujuan agar anak dapat mencintai diri sendiri dan menerima kelebihan maupun kekurangan yang ada pada diri. Namun, dewasa ini marak terjadi kasus bullying yang bersifat sengaja dilakukan dengan tujuan menyakiti korban baik secara emosi maupun fisik. Salah satu cara untuk mengatasi bullying dengan menerapkan self-esteem anak sejak usia dini. Self-esteem ini akan membantu melindungi diri anak dari perasaan rendah diri, merasa tidak berharga dan mampu memberikan perlawanan apabila ada anak lain yang hendak melakukan bullying. Penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode angket pada KB Riyadul Umat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dampak dari penerapan self-esteem bagi orang tua murid di KB Riyadul Umat. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebesar 91% responden memiliki persetujuan bahwa self-esteem membawa perkembangan positif untuk menyelesaikan masalah bullying dan 9% responden tidak setuju atau tidak memahami peran self-esteem bagi anak.

Abstract

Mengingat spiritual anak usia dini telah diakui sebagai salah satu area perkembangan dan konteks pendidikan. Sementara kajian spiritual dalam kurikulum masih terbatas. Oleh karena itu, tulisan ini bertujuan menganalisis dokumen kurikulum Raudahtul Athfal (RA) di Indonesia untuk menjawab pertanyaan penelitian bagaimana kurikulum membingkai spritual dan mengidentifikasi pembelajaran yang mendukung spiritual. hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa meskipun kurikulum tidak mendefinisikan konsep spiritual secara eksplisit, namun dianggap sebagai tujuan utama dan kemampuan utama yang harus anak miliki dalam kurikulum. Mengenai pendekatan pembelajaran, model pembelajaran, dan metode pembelajaran yang mendukung spiritual, temuan menunjukkan tidak adanya yang spesifik yang dapat diterapkan untuk mendukung spiritual. Implikasi hasil analisis menyoroti pentingnya spiritual untuk dimasukkan dalam kurikulum RA secara eksplisit
