Abstract

Family businesses account for 95 percent of all existing businesses in Indonesia, but only 12 percent survived to the third generation. The occurrence of various conflicts, differences, and problems in the family business gave rise to a well-known social stigma: the first generation builds, the second generation enjoys, and the third generation destroys. In this literature, the authors wish to examine the generation gap that exists at PT. Panggung Jaya Indah Textile/ PT Pajitex, a sarong manufacturer company with the brand "Sarung Mangga," from a family-oriented standpoint. In this study, the type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. Internal informants chosen are the owner of the company as the first generation and the owner’s daughter as the second generation. Meanwhile, Ciputra University’s main professor teaching a family business class on the Magister Management program has been chosen as an external informant of this literature. The findings of this research explain the generation gap problems between the first and second generations of PT. Pajitex and ways to overcome those obstacles.

Abstract

The tourism industry has recovered from the effect of pandemic covid-19, that makes the stakeholders in the hospitality sector must be able to respond; including hotel managers and higher education institutions that have tourism and hospitality study programs. However, this phenomenon is inversely proportional to the number of workers in the tourism industry who have tourism education up to a bachelor’s degree. This shows that there is a need for useful learning facilities to accelerate the competency of Hospitality graduates, such as the availability of practical laboratories and hotel systems that are operated to resemble real activities. The object of this research is the Ciputra University Laboratory Hotel which operates on March 2023 with a fluctuative occupancy rate. The operational activities of the Hotel Laboratory are handled by staff (internship students) who changes every day which makes a great possibility of service inconsistencies delivered to the hotel guests, therefore it is necessary to have a service system that can be used as a reference for the services delivered to the guests hotel in a form of a service blueprint. This research uses a qualitative approach with triangulation of data sources, the number of informants are 8 people represented by experts in the field of hotel management, internal management of the Hotel Laboratory and customers (guests) of the Hotel Laboratory. The final results of this research is represented in a form of service blueprint chart that can be implemented by employees (internship students) who are working at the Hotel Laboratory of Ciputra University.

Abstract

The increase of high-rise buildings in Indonesia is not accompanied by an increase in the professional staff who manage them. This research was conducted because of the high demand for professional staff to manage high-rise buildings. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires by purposive sampling to 92 students in semesters 3 and 5 from two majors, namely Hotel and Tourism Business Major and Interior Architecture major. Quantitative descriptive method was usedwith multiple regression analysis which tested three hypotheses with two independent variables; Career Planning (X1) and University Environment Support (X2) and one dependent variable; Career Preparation (Y). The research results prove that career planning and university environment support have a role in career preparation independently or simultaneously. Thus, it can be concluded that students state the importance of specializing in property management in order to meet professional needs as property managers.
