Abstract

The specification of gasoline 91, according to Dirjen Migas decree No. 3674 K/24/DJM/2006 dated March,17 2006 define the limit (maximum) of aromatic content 50%volume, and benzene 5.0% volume, but does not define boundary for olefin content as its is regulated in others countries. Olefin compound happened to be saturated hydrocarbon, its has higher octane number, unstable, produces gum that later on could build up as deposit on intake valve of combustion chamber or nozzle tip of fuel injection system. The objective of this study was to know how far the influence of olefin content in gasoline 91 to deposit build-up in intake valve of motor bike engine after cruising on road test for certain distance. For this purpose, the motor bike will be fueled with gasoline 91 with olefin content variations and will be compared to motor bike that cruised at the same route and distance accumulation with regular gasoline 91. Effect of several volume variety of olefin content in gasoline againts deposit development of intake valve engine will be discuss in this paper.

Abstract

Aromatic content in gasoline fuels should be limited due to its influencies to the cleanessof engine combustion chamber and emission of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide andhidrocarbon. Ussually the highest aromatic content mean more higher its benzene contentand it will couse increase of air pullotion. According to specification of gasoline 91(SKNo. 3674 k/24/DJM/2006), maximum aromatic content is 50 % volume. Those specificationconform to catagory 1 of World Wide Fuel Charter (WWFC). However, aromatic and benzenecontent test on domestic gasoline in Indonesia obviously fulfil maximum limit for gasolinecatagory 2 of WWCF. Effect of several volume variaties of aromatic content in gasoline91 againts deposit development and cleaness (rating) of engine combution chamberwill be discuss in this paper.

Abstract

To fulfill yearly increase National demand for fuel oils (FO), therefor this paperconducted to researched the posibility added low sulfur wax residue (LSWR) into Nationalfuel oil comersial to some percentage volume againts its characteristic changes.Base on its pour point, the fuel oils modification formula, named FO-90 that has pourpoint 90oF, this formula content 6% volume LSWR.The laboratory test result, shown that nearly all characteristic fuel oils modification isconform with current domestic fuel oils specification 2, issued by Directorate GeneralOils and Gas on behalf of Indonesian goverment in their SK No. 03/P/DM/MIGAS/1986dated April 14, 1986.This paper proposes fuel oils specification, as input for government policy in reformulationof Indonesian fuel oils specification which confirm with international fuel oil specification.

Abstract

Butanol adalah suatu alkohol yang dapat digunakan sebagai bahan bakar mesin bensin padapembakaran internal tanpa modifikasi mesin.Keuntungan dari butanol adalah angka oktana dan kandungan energinya tinggi, hanya sekitar10% lebih rendah daripada bensin. Butanol adalah hidrokarbon rantai panjang bersifat non-polar,tidak larut dalam air dan titik nyalanya tinggi, serta mempunyai tekanan uap rendah (0,3 psi).Kelemahan utama butanol adalah bersifat toksisitas, dan kenyataan pada proses fermentasibutanol (dapat dibuat dari ganggang, mahkota dewa, buah naga) memancarkan bau busuk.Membuat butanol dari minyak tidak menghasilkan bau tersebut, namun pasokan terbatas.Pengujian kinerja sepeda motor di atas dinamometer sasis. Hasil uji daya rata-rata terhadapwaktu akselerasi rata-rata mesin sepeda motor yang berbahan bakar bensin yang mengandung10% volume butanol (Bu10) lebih rendah 3,4% dibandingkan ketika memakai bensin yang tidakmengandung butanol (Bu0). Hasil uji konsumsi bahan bakar Bu10 dibandingkan dengan bensinBu0 adalah meningkat 2,13%, sedangkan emisi gas buang nitrogen oksida, karbon monoksida,hidrokarbon dan karbon dioksida masing-masing lebih rendah.

Abstract

Desain motor diesel saat ini cenderung memakai prinsip pembakaran miskin, motor multikatup, turbo/supercharging, injeksi bahan bakar multiport, kenaikan perbandingan kompresi, knock limiting control dan multi bahan bakar. Disamping itu pembuat mesin berusaha meningkatkan kinerja (performance) mesin, hemat bahan bakar dan mengurangi kadar emisi gas buangnya
