Abstract

Speaking skill, though crucial for communication, is often neglected in elementary language education, which tends to prioritize reading and writing. Recognizing that students' speaking abilities require enhancement, this study aimed to analyze the impact of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model, supported by flash cards, and the Jigsaw Cooperative Learning model, also with flash cards, on the speaking skills of third-grade elementary students. A comparative analysis of the improvements between these two models was also a key objective.Utilizing a Quasy Experiment with a non-equivalent control group design, the research involved two classes, each comprising 25 students. The experimental class received instruction using the CTL model with flash cards, while the control class utilized the Jigsaw model, similarly aided by flash cards. Data collection involved pre-tests, post-tests, and observation sheets. Statistical analysis, encompassing descriptive and inferential methods, was performed using IBM SPSS version 30.0 and Microsoft Excel 2021.The findings revealed significant insights: 1) The CTL model with flash cards demonstrated a 70.6% effect on improving speaking skills; 2) The Jigsaw model with flash cards showed a 45.7% effect. Furthermore, the average N-Gain for the experimental class (CTL) was 0.65 (moderate), while the control class (Jigsaw) registered 0.54 (moderate). A t-test confirmed a significant difference in speaking skill improvement between the two groups. Consequently, the CTL model assisted by flash cards proved more effective than the Jigsaw model with flash cards. This study recommends adopting the flash card-assisted CTL model as an effective alternative for enhancing elementary school students' speaking skills.

Abstract

Social skills are among the essential skills that need to be developed in social studies learning as they can foster responsibility, interaction-communication, cooperation, empathy-sympathy, self-control, and various other social aspects. However, the phenomenon observed indicates a still low level of social skills among elementary school students. The application of the Predict Observe Explain ((POE)) learning model is identical to science-based learning, but its implementation in social studies learning represents a new innovation to enhance social skills. This underpins the conduct of research in this thesis. The purpose of this study is 1) to determine whether the increase in social skills of students using the Predict Observe Explain ((POE)) learning model is better than that of students using the contextual learning model. 2) to find out the effect of using the Predict Observe Explain ((POE)) model on the improvement of social skills of elementary school students. The method used in this research is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design on social studies learning material about the struggle of the Indonesian nation against colonialism and imperialism. The instrument used in the study was a social skills test. The results of the study from the n-gain score calculations showed that the experimental class had a score of 0.5320 and the control class also had a score of 0.3111. Furthermore, the results from the regression analysis indicated that the Predict Observe Explain ((POE)) learning model had an influence of 36,4%. The conclusions obtained from this study are: 1) There is an improvement in social skills among elementary school students using the Predict Observe Explain ((POE)) learning model compared to students using the contextual learning model; 2) There is an effect of the Predict Observe Explain ((POE)) learning model.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Picture and Picture learning model in improving student learning outcomes at the elementary school level through a systematic review approach. Data were analyzed based on relevant previous research results, focusing on improving cognitive understanding, student engagement, and critical thinking skills. This research method includes systematic identification, evaluation, and synthesis of various studies using quantitative approaches and classroom actions. The review results show that the application of the Picture and Picture model has a significant positive impact on student learning outcomes. This increase can be seen from the increase in students' average scores and the level of learning completion in various subjects, such as science and social studies. In addition, the use of interactive visual media helps students visualize abstract concepts concretely, while the logical and collaborative arrangement of images encourages critical thinking skills. Thus, this model is proven to be flexible, relevant, and effective in various elementary education contexts.

Abstract

Purpose: In the digital era, visual media acts as a "third classroom" influencing early childhood development. This study analyzes the effectiveness of Kinderflix’s daily life content as a medium for imitation in shaping adaptive behaviors, including self-help, communication, social-emotional, and motor skills. Methods: This qualitative research employs content analysis. Data were collected from six popular daily lifevideos via purposive sampling. The observation instrument was structured based on Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory, focusing on the phases of attention, retention, motor reproduction, and motivation. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and theories. Findings: Findings indicate that Kinderflix methodically applies modeling principles through multisensory stimulation. Strategies include: (1) repetitive articulation and expressive gestures for attention; (2) interactive songs as mnemonic tools for retention; (3) invitations for active participation for motor reproduction; and (4) vicarious reinforcement for motivation. This content systematically builds adaptive behavior structures, fostering independence and social responsiveness. Research implications: Kinderflix serves as an effective adaptive educational instrument rather than mere passive entertainment. This study highlights the necessity of parental roles as active mediators to facilitate the transition from digital information to real-life action. Originality: The uniqueness of this research lies in proving how local Indonesian content, such as Kinderflix, can turn digital viewing into real action for children. At a time when similar research is still rarely done in Indonesia, this study is here to explain in depth how the video works in shaping children's independence and social skills through real human examples.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat kepercayaan diri anak usia dini pada keluarga Pra-sejahtera serta menganalisis dampak status ekonomi keluarga terhadap perkembangan psikososial anak. Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini dilakukan di Desa Ciruluk, Kecamatan Kalijati, Kabupaten Subang dengan melibatkan 5 anak usia dini dan 5 orang tua. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara semi-terstruktur dua tahap (validasi 14 indikator BPS dan eksplorasi pola pengasuhan) serta observasi perilaku anak berdasarkan empat indikator utama: interaksi dengan teman sebaya, interaksi dengan orang baru, penampilan di depan umum, dan sikap berpikir positif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa anak usia dini dari keluarga pra-sejahtera memiliki kepercayaan diri yang rendah secara konsisten. Temuan mendalam mengungkapkan anak cenderung pasif dalam berinteraksi dengan teman sebaya, menunjukkan kecemasan tinggi dan menghindar saat bertemu orang baru, serta sangat rendah keberanian tampil di depan umum. Keterbatasan ekonomi menyebabkan orang tua mengalami tekanan finansial yang berdampak pada pola asuh kurang responsif dan minim stimulasi psikososial, sehingga menghambat keempat sumber kepercayaan diri menurut teori Albert Bandura. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kestabilan ekonomi keluarga merupakan faktor krusial yang memengaruhi perkembangan kepercayaan diri anak usia dini di pedesaan.

Abstract

The development of responsibility character in early childhood is a crucial aspect that cannot be separated from the role of parents in the parenting process. This study aims to describe the influence of parenting styles on the formation of responsibility character in early childhood within the community of Cikampek Barat Village, RW 18, Karawang Regency. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques consisting of observation and open-ended interviews. The research subjects comprised five early childhood children aged 4–6 years and five parents as the primary informants. Data validity was examined through triangulation techniques, while data analysis was conducted using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman, encompassing three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the parenting styles applied by parents are not singular in nature but vary in accordance with family habits and communication patterns. Two dominant parenting styles were identified, namely democratic parenting and authoritarian parenting. Children raised under democratic parenting demonstrated more optimal development of responsibility character, characterized by greater independence, openness, and self-awareness. In contrast, children raised under authoritarian parenting tended to exhibit compliance driven by fear rather than by an internalized understanding of responsibility values. This study affirms that an appropriate parenting style, one that integrates warmth, effective communication, and reasonable supervision, is proven to support the formation of stable responsibility character in early childhood.
