Abstract

The non-formal education sector, particularly Community Learning Centers (PKBM), faces intensifying competition in maintaining market relevance within the alternative education landscape. This study aims to investigate the influence of Advertising Strategy, Branding, and Service Quality on the Competitive Advantage of PKBM Tunas Mekar Semarang. Adopting a quantitative research design, primary data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires distributed to the target population. The study utilized a census (saturated) sampling technique, encompassing all 100 active students currently enrolled at PKBM Tunas Mekar Semarang. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis via SPSS version 22. The findings demonstrate that Advertising Strategy, Branding, and Service Quality simultaneously exert a significant impact on Competitive Advantage (F-test sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Furthermore, partial analysis (t test) reveals that all three variables have a positive and significant effect: Advertising Strategy (sig. 0.012), Branding (sig. 0.000), and Service Quality (sig. 0.000). The Adjusted R Square value indicates that these factors account for 70.2% of the variance in the institution’s competitive advantage. These results underscore the critical importance of integrating robust marketing strategies with high service standards to strengthen the strategic positioning of non-formal educational institutions in the digital era.

Abstract

Urban Farming is a strategic solution for improving food security in urban areas through productive use of limited land and space Fei et al. However, manual watering remains a major obstacle, requiring time and labor while risking water volumes that mismatch plants' physiological needs Hayati. This study designs, builds, and implements an Internet of Things (IoT)-based automatic watering system to optimize Urban Farming at the Bendan Ngisor Farmer Group (Poktan Bensor), Semarang, capable of monitoring plant environmental conditions in real time and controlling watering automatically or manually from a distance Atzori et al., Kamienski et al. The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller as the control unit Espressif Systems, Kolban, a DHT22 sensor for temperature and humidity Aosong Electronics, Taiz et al. a Soil Moisture Sensor Bogena et al. Muñoz-Carpena, a relay actuator Petruzella, a DC water pump Çengel & Cimbala, and Telegram as the remote interface Telegram, Hidayat & Gunawan, following a Research and Development approach Monk. Results show the system reads parameters stably, executes automatic watering below the critical threshold (<40%), and sends Telegram Bot notifications with a 98.5% success rate, proving effective for sustainable Urban Farming management.

Abstract

Based on observations of sales data from the Batik Benang Raja Shop in Semarang, a downward trend in sales was observed in 2023. This decline indicates a decline in consumer purchasing decisions. This declining sales issue cannot be ignored by shop owners, as it can negatively impact business continuity. Several factors contributing to the decline in sales include social media promotions, product quality, and store atmosphere. This study aims to analyze the extent to which social media promotions, product quality, and store atmosphere influence purchasing decisions for fashion products at Batik Benang Raja Semarang. This study adopted a quantitative and qualitative approach using primary data obtained through a simple random sampling technique, with a sample size of 84 respondents, calculated using the Slovin formula. To analyze the data, this study used multiple regression analysis techniques, t-tests, F-tests, and coefficient of determination (R2) tests. The results showed that social media promotions did not significantly influence purchasing decisions for Batik Benang Raja Semarang products. This may be due to a lack of engagement and intensive interaction on social media or perhaps due to the inaccuracy in selecting the right promotional platform. Meanwhile, the variables of product quality and store atmosphere were shown to have a significant influence on purchasing decisions. Good product quality can increase consumer confidence in the products sold, while a comfortable and attractive store atmosphere can create a more enjoyable shopping experience, ultimately driving purchasing decisions. Therefore, even though social media promotion does not have a significant impact, product quality and store atmosphere remain important factors that Toko Batik Benang Raja needs to consider in increasing sales and attracting more customers.
