Abstract

Patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis often experience decreased ability to perform activities of daily living. Fatigue is a common symptom that could influence the reduction of these activities. This study aims to analyze the relationship between fatigue and the level of independence of daily living activities in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. This study used a descriptive correlative design and a cross-sectional approach with a population of 175 hemodialysis patients, which then obtained a sample of 121 people using the accidental random sampling technique. Data was collected using the FACIT Fatigue Scale and Katz index questionnaires, while the correlation test used Rank Spearman. The results showed a significant positive relationship between fatigue and the level of independence of daily living activities with a p-value = 0.001. The higher the fatigue value, the higher the level of dependence of a person on performing daily living activities. Early identification is needed to assess the fatigue status experienced by hemodialysis patients as a strategy to increase independence, which ultimately impacts quality of life.

Diabetes mellitus is one of the chronic metabolic diseases whose incidence continues to increase, especially in productive age. This screening and counseling activity aims to detect diabetes mellitus early and provide counseling related to the prevention and management of diabetes mellitus in productive age communities in Sraten Village, Gatak District, Sukoharjo Regency. The method used includes initial screening of diabetes mellitus using blood sugar checks, blood pressure checks, and body mass index measurements. Then, participants filled out a pre-test of knowledge about diabetes mellitus, followed by counseling on diabetes mellitus, risk factors, signs and symptoms, as well as efforts to prevent and manage diabetes mellitus, and ended with filling out a post-test. A total of 50 residents of Sraten Village who are of productive age participated in this activity. Abstract

Preoperative anxiety is a psychological response often experienced by patients before undergoing surgical intervention and can lead to increased physiological responses such as heart rate, blood pressure, and stress hormones. This condition can disrupt patient stability and slow recovery. Therefore, an effective, safe intervention that minimizes side effects is needed to reduce this anxiety. One non-pharmacological intervention is binaural beats music therapy, which stimulates alpha and theta brain waves to increase relaxation and reduce sympathetic nervous system activity. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of binaural beats music therapy in reducing anxiety levels in preoperative urology patients at Ir. Soekarno Sukoharjo Regional General Hospital. The method used was an intervention in preoperative patients who received binaural beats music therapy for 30 minutes via a headset. Then, anxiety was measured using the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) before and after the intervention, with its validity and reliability confirmed through preliminary testing. The sample consisted of five patients selected through purposive sampling who met the following inclusion criteria: experiencing moderate to severe anxiety, being conscious and cooperative, having no hearing impairment, and being willing to participate in the intervention. The results showed that all patients experienced a decrease in anxiety scores after therapy. Three patients experienced a decrease in anxiety levels from moderate (14-18) to mild (9-12), while two patients experienced a decrease in anxiety levels from severe (23-21) to moderate (15-16). These findings suggest that binaural beats therapy is effective in helping reduce anxiety in preoperative patients, particularly those undergoing urological surgery.
