Abstract

Sero is a type of fishing gear whose operation is carried out around coastal waters, is permanent, and has the role of trapping fish that have territorial areas around the coast or fish that migrate towards the coast. The oceanographic conditions of a body of water can be used to indicate fishing areas for certain types of fish. This research aims to determine the influence of oceanographic factors (temperature, salinity, currents, and tides) on sero catches on Karampuang Island, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi. The research was carried out in June-July 2023 on Karampuang Island, District. Mamuju, West Sulawesi. This method uses a field survey method, namely measuring temperature, salinity, tides, and currents. The results of this study indicate that the influence of oceanographic parameters on the total sero catches yield together with the independent variables (X) does not have a significant impact on the sero catches yield (Y). Individually (partially), the variable with a negative value, the temperature on serocatch but not substantial.

Abstract

Kasiwa Fish Landing Base (PPI) in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, is a center of fisheries activity that plays an important role in supporting the capture fisheries sector. This research aims to analyze the efficiency of unloading fish catches and the factors that influence it. The method used in this research was purposive sampling, with respondents consisting of active fishermen and port management staff. The aim of this research is to evaluate the duration of the catch unloading process at the Kasiwa Fish Landing Base (PPI) located in Mamuju, West Sulawesi. As the fishing industry advances, the importance of efficiency in unloading procedures becomes increasingly significant to boost productivity and reduce losses. This research uses an observational method with measurements of demolition time carried out over a certain period of time, as well as quantitative data analysis to identify factors that influence the duration of demolition. This includes the type of fish, volume of catch, and weather conditions at the time of unloading. The results show that the time required for disassembly ranges from 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the variables involved. It is hoped that these findings can provide suggestions for fisheries industry players to improve operational efficiency at PPI Kasiwa and become a reference for further research in the field of fisheries and marine product processing.

Abstract

Coral reef ecosystems in coastal areas and on small islands, such as Samalona Island, play a vital role in fisheries and tourism. One method of coral reef conservation in Indonesia is the use of spider webs. This study aimed to analyze the survival and growth rate of coral reef transplants using the spider web method on Samalona Island from January to December 2024. Field data were obtained by measuring the length of coral fragments monthly. The results showed that coral seedling mortality was highest in the first quarter (27.05%) and lowest in the fourth quarter (1.44%). The highest growth rate was recorded in the fourth quarter (3.77 cm), with an average monthly growth rate of 0.88 cm.

Abstract

Tourism awareness groups (POKDARWIS) are independent community groups that play an active role in the development and preservation of tourism potential in their villages or areas. POKDARWIS Ujung Bulo Marine Tourism Karampuang Island Village is a tourism awareness group established by the Mamuju Regency Tourism and Culture Office on January 2, 2023, based on Decree No. 900/02. a/I/2023/PARBUD. It consists of 20 members, including the chairman. The purpose of this PKM activity is to increase awareness and knowledge among partners about the preservation of coral reef ecosystems through sustainable coral nursery centers, and to develop the potential for sustainable diving tourism based on coral reef conservation. The implementation method used at the Coral Nursery Center is carried out in the following stages: preparation, socialization/focus group discussion, training, creation of the Coral Nursery Center, monitoring, and evaluation. The community service was held on July 22-23, 2025, in Karampuang Island Village, which was attended by 25 participants at the focus group discussion stage and 10 partner representatives at the stage of creating a coral nursery center. The number of rope stretches made was 5, with each rope installed with 20 coral saplings, resulting in a total of 100 coral saplings installed. The results of the PKM activities carried out have yielded an increase in partners' knowledge and understanding of the importance of coral reef ecosystems for human life. Based on the posttest conducted after the activity, the increase in knowledge on the FGD material was 85.81%, the implementation of transplantation was 71.56% and the coral health monitoring process was 71.56%. To enable partners to effectively manage coral nursery centers and implement coral adoption programs, thereby increasing the potential for education-based marine tourism and attracting more tourists. The survival of coral fragments in the coral nursery centers is 70%. In the coral adoption program, the number of potential tourists involved over the course of one year following the implementation of the activity is targeted at 69 people.
