Abstract

Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr. leaves are plants that contain secondary metabolite compounds that can be used as medicine in healing cuts. Objective: to determine the ethanol extract ointment of katuk leaves (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr.) for healing cuts in rabbits. Methode: the preparation of ointment preparations using the ethanol extract of katuk leaves (Sauropus androgynus (L.) Merr.) is identified for the compound content first then the ointment preparations are made. Tested using 3 (three) rabbits with 5 treatment groups, namely 10%, 12.5%, 15% katuk leaf ethanol extract ointment, positive control (10% povidone iodine), negative control (no extract base). All rabbits were injured with a length of 2cm to a depth of ± 0.2cm, each rabbit received 5 incision points. The wound is smeared 2 times a day every morning and evening. Wound observations were carried out every day for 14 days. Results Data analysis was carried out using One-Way ANNOVA. Results: Katuk leaf ethanol extract contains flavonoids, saponins and tannins. All ointment formulations have activity in healing cut wounds even though they have different healing times. Katuk leaf ethanol extract ointment meets the physical quality test requirements for ointments. The statistical test results showed that there was a significant difference in the healing of cut wounds in rabbits, namely (p<0.05). Conclusion: Katuk leaf ethanol extract ointment with a base concentration of 15% has the most optimal potential for healing cuts in rabbits.

Abstract

Cosmetic products in the form of cream preparations containing antioxidant compounds have been developed to prevent premature aging of the skin. One of these plants is the gotu kola plant which can be used as a source of natural antioxidants. The active compounds contained in gotu kola leaves are flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, triterpenoids, terpenoids which have been developed into dosage forms suitable for cream products. To determine the formulation of gotu kola leaf extract cream as an antioxidant. This research is experimental research. This experiment is based on extraction, formulation, preparation evaluation tests including organoleptic, pH, homogeneity, viscosity, spreadability, adhesive power. Then an antioxidant test was carried out. Statistical analysis was carried out using the ANOVA method. The research results show that gotu kola leaf extract can be formulated into cream preparations with various base variations that meet the requirements for good preparation evaluation. The antioxidant test results showed the IC50 FI value was 34.04 ppm, F2 30.27 ppm, F3 26.43 ppm. Statistical test results show significant antioxidant value, namely <0.05.

Abstract

Aging causes the skin to become wrinkled. The cause of aging is free radicals, free radicals in the form of UV-A rays. Bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) is a plant that contains flavonoid compounds which can act as antioxidants which can provide anti-aging activity. This test was carried out to find out that bay leaf extract gel was able to provide anti-aging activity. Methodology; The bay leaf extract was tested to be ethanol free and the chemical compound content was identified. The gel preparation was made using bay leaf extract with a concentration of 1.5%, 3%, 4.5%, which was tested for stability including organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, adhesive test, viscosity test, and spreadability test and tested for anti-aging activity. includes percent collagen, percent elasticity, percent moisture. Results; The results of the FI, FII, and FIII gel stability tests meet the requirements for gel preparations including: pH test, viscosity test, adhesion test, and spreadability test. The results of testing the anti-aging activity of the bay leaf extract gel preparation with a concentration of 4.5% provided the most effective anti-aging effect. Conclusion; The results of the FI, FII, and FIII bay leaf extract gel tests had good stability. anti-aging activity test of bay leaf extract gel preparation with a concentration of 4.5% provided the most effective anti-aging effect.

Abstract

Improper use of antibiotics will cause resistance in bacteria so that other alternatives are needed such as the use of avocado plants as antibacterial plants. To determine the antibacterial activity of avocado leaf ethanol extract on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Laboratory experimental research to see the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract and avocado leaf fractions with concentrations of 15%, 20% and 25%. Antibacterial activity tests were carried out using the disk diffusion method against Staphylococcus aureus and comparing the inhibition zones formed from each treatment with the positive control, namely Tetracycline. The inhibition power obtained was then analyzed using the One Way Anova statistical method. The content of 70% avocado leaf ethanol extract compounds consists of flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids and terpenoids. Face toner preparation of 70% ethanol extract of avocado leaves F1 (15%) has 11.5mm, F2 (20%) has 15.7 mm and F3 (25%) has 21.4% antibacterial activity against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Formula 3 with a concentration of 25% with an inhibition zone of 21.4 mm has the most optimal antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The most optimal avocado leaf face toner preparation as an antibacterial activity for Staphylococcus aureus is a concentration of 25%.
