Abstract

Indonesia utilizes the principle of diversity in providing the right to worship for all citizens, which is key to maintaining social harmony and unity. This principle is important in creating an inclusive society that respects diverse beliefs with efforts to understand and support the right to worship regardless of other religions is a crucial step to strengthen unity. This research aims to examine the application of the principle of diversity in providing the right to worship to citizens as a tool to maintain unity in Indonesia. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach with data collection through interviews and observations, involving 8 respondents representing two religious groups in Indonesia. The results show the importance of the principle of diversity in maintaining national unity by supporting the right to worship regardless of religion. Despite the challenges, this effort is important to create an inclusive and harmonious society in a diverse country like Indonesia.

Abstract

Language has an important role as a communication tool to convey feelings and attitudes in various situations, including in literary works such as novels. This research aims to identify and describe the types of expressive illocutionary speech acts in the novel Perahu Kertas by Dewi Lestari and analyze their implications for Indonesian language learning, especially in the aspect of pragmatics. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through document study and speech notes. The results show that there are seven types of expressive illocutionary speech acts in this novel, namely praise, thanks, apology, congratulations, expression of admiration, expression of disappointment or anger, and statement of affection. The implementation of the results of this study is expected to be used as an effective teaching material in Indonesian language learning, especially in improving students’ ability to understand pragmatic aspects and daily communication.
