Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Hypotension can possibly occur when systolic blood pressure drops below 90 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure falls below 60 mmHg. The sympathetic nervous system, which controls vascular muscle tone, is blocked during spinal anesthesia, resulting in hypotension Methods: This is a quantitative study using an analytical observational method. The study was conducted from February to March 2026 at the Central Operating Theater (COT) of Muhammadiyah Hospital, Palembang. The sample size was 40 respondents that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Chisquare analysis was performed in this study. Results: Two variables were significantly associated with the incidence of hypotension in cesarean section patients with spinal anesthesia: age (p-value = 0.046) and the level of sympathetic blockade (p-value = 0.033). The variables of anesthetic drug type and body position did not show a significant association with the incidence of hypotension (p-value = 0.364) and (p-value = 0.673). Conclusion: There is a significant association between age and the level of sympathetic blockade and the incidence of hypotension in cesarean section patients with spinal anesthesia at the Muhammadiyah Hospital, Palembang. Variables that did not show a significant association with the incidence of hypotension were anesthetic drug type and body position.

Abstract

Background: Burnout is a psychological syndrome characterized by emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and a reduced sense of professional efficacy. Anesthesiology nursing students face substantial academic and clinical practice demands, placing them at risk of experiencing burnout. This condition may negatively affect their caring behavior when providing perioperative anesthesiology nursing care. Methods: This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 61 eighth-semester students from the Nurse Anesthesiology Program at Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta, selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Caring Behavior Inventory (CBI-24). Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank correlation test. Results: The Spearman Rank test showed a correlation coefficient of -0.458 with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant negative relationship between burnout and caring behavior among anesthesiology nursing students. Higher levels of burnout were associated with lower levels of caring behavior in perioperative clinical practice. Most respondents experienced a moderate level of burnout (55.7%) and demonstrated a moderate level of caring behavior (60.7%). Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between burnout and caring behavior among anesthesiology nursing students in the provision of perioperative anesthesiology nursing care. Abstract

Earthquakes are a serious threat in Indonesia that threaten lives, causing fatalities. The 2006 Bantul earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale rocked the Yogyakarta and Central Java regions with 19,202 fatalities. In emergency situations, triage knowledge and skills are very important, but the Padukuhan Rogoitan area has never received disaster triage training or simulation. The aim of this research aims to determine the effect of triage simulation on triage skills in dealing with disasters in youth organizations. The method used is a simulation method of carrying out independent triage by youth organizations involving 30 members of the Padukuhan Rogoitan Youth Organization, Pendowoharajo District. Using the Wilcoxon test. The results show that before the simulation, 73.3% of respondents were in the "Quite Skilled" category, while after the simulation, 86.7% of respondents managed to reach the "Very Skilled" category. The Wilcoxon test shows a significance value of 0.000. Triage simulation needs to be integrated into the youth organization's routine training program.

Abstract

Background: Cardiovascular diseases, including sudden cardiac arrest, remain one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Unfortunately, approximately 70–80% of cardiac arrest incidents occur outside hospital settings, and only a small proportion of victims receive appropriate immediate assistance. Housewives represent a key community group that may be among the first responders capable of providing Basic Life Support (BLS) during emergency situations. Objective: This study aimed to assess the knowledge of housewives regarding Basic Life Support (BLS) at TK Negeri (State Kindergarten) 01 and to determine the effect of demonstration video education on improving their BLS knowledge. Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 59 housewives were recruited through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a 10-item BLS knowledge questionnaire. The intervention consisted of educational demonstration videos on Basic Life Support. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: The findings demonstrated an improvement in participants’ knowledge following the intervention, with the majority of respondents shifting from the “low” knowledge category to the “high” category. The Wilcoxon test revealed a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p = 0.000; p < 0.05), indicating that the intervention significantly improved participants’ knowledge of Basic Life Support. Conclusion: Demonstration video education is effective in improving housewives’ knowledge of Basic Life Support (BLS) in responding to medical emergency situations. Recommendation: It is recommended that BLS education be provided regularly to housewives to enhance their preparedness and ability to respond effectively to emergency situations. Abstract

Background: Odontectomy under general anesthesia frequently triggers pre-operative anxiety, which carries the risk of causing physiological complications and even surgical cancellation. Management that relies solely on pharmacological premedication can produce adverse side effects, making it necessary to explore safe and practical self-administered relaxation alternatives. One such non-pharmacological therapy for managing this anxiety is the butterfly hug technique. Purpose: To explore the effectiveness of butterfly hug therapy as a practical and structured self-administered non-pharmacological relaxation intervention in reducing anxiety levels among pre-operative odontectomy patients. Method: A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental research design was used. Samples were selected through purposive sampling, yielding 44 respondents. Data were collected using the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Results: The bivariate Wilcoxon test yielded a significance value of 0.000, which is lower than 0.05 (sig. 0.000 < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores. The hypothesis stating that "Butterfly Hug has an effect on anxiety levels in pre-operative odontectomy patients under general anesthesia at Salatiga Regional Hospital" was therefore supported. Conclusion: Butterfly Hug has a significant effect on anxiety levels in pre-operative odontectomy patients under general anesthesia.
