Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to study students' mathematical communication skills in a linear program in terms of visual learning styles at MAN 1 Pontianak. The method used is descriptive method in the form of survey research. The data source used in this study was the students of class XI MIPA 1 at MAN 1 Pontianak. Data collection tools used were non-test consisting of a questionnaire to measure visual learning styles and written tests to understand students' communication skills. Based on the test results, students are able to connect real objects into mathematical ideas, students are able to describe everyday events using language or mathematical symbols and are able to explain some mathematical problems into the form of images. The results of data analysis show that the communication skills of students with visual learning styles are of good qualityKeywords: Linear Program, Mathematical Communication, Visual Learning Style

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the results of mathematics learning in terms of beliefs about mathematics of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Tangaran, Sambas Regency. The form of research used in this study is a survey. The data source used in this study was students of class VIII A of SMP Negeri 1 Tangaran, Sambas Regency, the data obtained in this study were beliefs about mathematics questionnaire, mathematics learning test and interviews from several students. Mathematical learning outcomes in terms of students' beliefs about mathematics show that each student has varying results in learning mathematics. This means that students who have high beliefs about mathematics do not necessarily have high mathematics learning outcomes, students who have moderate beliefs about mathematics do not necessarily have moderate mathematics learning outcomes, and students who have low beliefs about mathematics may not necessarily have low mathematics learning outcomes. Keywords: Belief About Mathematics, Lower Secondary School, Mathematical Learning Outcomes

Abstract

AbstractThis research was aimed at determining how students' mathematical communication skills in solving material of “Linear Program” who have high self-efficacy, moderate self-efficacy and low self-efficacy in SMA Negeri 9 Pontianak. The method in this research is descriptive study with descriptive qualitative research form. Techniques of data collection used are measurement techniques and direct communication technique. Data collection tools used in this study were questionnaires, written tests and interviews. It was found that students with high self-efficacy were able to express daily events into language or mathematical symbols; they were able to reflect pictures into mathematical ideas and were able to explain the results of answers in their own language or words. Students with moderate self-efficacy are being able to express daily events into language or mathematical symbols, are able to reflect images into mathematical ideas and write answers given with words but are incomplete and incorrect with information contained in the problems. Students with low self-efficacy find it difficult to understand the commands of the problems and are unable to solve the problems given. Keywords: Linear Program, Mathematical Communication Skills, Self-efficacy

Abstract

AbstractThe thesis entitled the influence of the contextual teaching and learning approach on student learning achievement in Pontianak State High School 5 aims to examine the effect of the contextual teaching and learning approach on student learning achievement on SPLTV material at Pontianak Public High School 5 The population in this study were students of class X IPA Pontianak 5 High School. The sample of this study was the students of class X IPA 2 and X IPA 4 who were selected using the purposive sampling technique. X IPA 2 as an experimental class with CTL approach learning. While class X IPA 4 as a control class with a scientific approach. The data collection technique used is a test. The test used is a test of learning outcomes. The pretest and posttest data were analyzed using the t-test after fulfilling the homogeneity test and normality test. The results of data analysis indicate that t count> t table is 10.37> 1.69389. Thus it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach on student achievement. Keywords:  Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), Learning Outcomes, Systems of Linear Equations of Three Variables

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the  effectiveness of the application of the peer tutoring method for learning composition function material in SMAN  1 Sungai Ambawang. The research method used is descriptive method. The research subject was 24 students from class X MIPA 4 SMAN  1 Sungai Ambawang. The aspect used to determine the effectiveness of learning using the peer tutoring method was teacher’s ability in implementing learning, student learning activities and completeness of student learning outcomes. Data collection was obtained by direct observation and learning outcome test. From the results of the study it showed that the teacher’s ability (researcher) in implementing learning with the peer tutoring method was categorized good with an average of 3,45, student’s learning activities categorized active with a percentage of 75,23% and student’s outcome is not reached classical completeness with only 66,67% of student can achieve the minimum completeness criteria. The conclusion of this research is the applicaton of the peer tutoring method for learning composition function material in  class X MIPA 4 SMAN  1 Sungai Ambawang is not effective. Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research was to analyze, describe and resolve student’s misconception in linear programming at SMAN 1 Pontianak. Three-tier Test can be used to identify student’s misconceptions. There were three categories of misconceptions that will be discussed in this study, namely systematic misconception, random misconception and misconception due to carelessness. This study used a descriptive-exploratory method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were written tests and interviews, while data collection tools were Three-tier Test and unstructured interview. The research subjects were 32 of 11th grade science students at SMAN 1 Pontianak in 2019/2020. The results of the research that student’s misconceptions on linear programming were students wrong in understanding a concept of problems in linear programming, so students had difficulty in answering questions that related to the concept. Meanwhile, to resolve student’s misconceptions were by discovering the causes of misconceptions first, then looked for concepts that were still had misconceptions and fixed misconceptions by giving questions related to concepts and rebuilding student concepts. Keywords: Misconception, Linear Programming, Three-Tier Test
