Abstract

This study aims to explore the innovative strategies of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Lumajang district in making Lumajang a model of religious moderation, with Senduro village as the main focus. Using a qualitative approach through a case study, data was collected through in-depth interviews with Ministry of Religious Affairs officials, religious leaders, and local communities. In addition, participatory observation of moderation activities and analysis of relevant policy documents were conducted. The results show that the Ministry of Religious Affairs' programs, such as strengthening interfaith dialogue and inclusive religious education, have successfully improved harmony and tolerance in the community. However, there are challenges such as local cultural resistance and lack of resource support. Nonetheless, the implementation of these strategies has had a positive impact in strengthening interfaith relations in Senduro Village, creating a more harmonious and tolerant environment. This research is expected to contribute to the development of religious moderation policies at the local level and enrich the discourse on religious moderation in Indonesia.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease with a high complication rate that is strongly influenced by patient compliance with self-care management. This study aims to analyze the forms of compliance that affect self-care management in T2DM, sociodemographic characteristics that play a role in self-care management, and aspects of self-care management that contribute to improving compliance of T2DM patients. The method used was literature from the EBSCO, SAGE, and PubMed databases for the period 2021-2025, with the inclusion criteria of English articles, full text, and the use of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH Terms). The literature review showed that adherence in the aspects of blood sugar monitoring, diet management, physical activity, medication consumption, and foot care determine the success of self-care management. Sociodemographic factors such as advanced age, low education and economic level, and lack of social support were shown to reduce patient adherence to self-care management. In contrast, patients with good health education, access to adequate medical equipment, and family and community support showed a more optimal level of compliance and self-care management. Effective self-care management, especially in terms of diet management, physical activity, and blood sugar monitoring, significantly increases patient compliance, reduces the risk of complications, and improves quality of life. Thus, sociodemographic-based interventions, health education, and family/community involvement are essential to improve adherence and effectiveness of self-care management in T2DM patients.

Abstract

Signage plays an important role in cultural heritage destinations, functioning not only as wayfinding tools but also as communicative devices that reflects the cultural identity of a place. In many regions, signage has evolved into a medium for cultural storytelling through the use of local language, symbols, and traditional elements. However, in several heritage sites in Indonesia, the cultural integration of signage remains underdeveloped. This study investigates how signage contributes to the communication of cultural identity in Kampung Budaya Sindang Barang, one of the oldest traditional villages in Bogor. Despite its active role in preserving Sundanese tradition through rituals, architecture, and educational programs, the village’s existing signage remains limited in both quantity and cultural representation. This research employs qualitative case study approach, using observation, interviews, and documentation to explore signage functions within the village. Analysis was conducted using a SWOT matrix to identify internal and external factors, while the pyramid signage model was applied to examine signage through its information content, graphic, and hardware system. The findings reveal that the current signage primarily fulfills functional purposes such as navigation and regulation, without incorporating Sundanese language, symbols or motifs. This lack of cultural representation reduces signage effectiveness in communicating identity and engaging visitors. The result demonstrates a significant gap between the cultural richness of the site and its ability to express identity through design. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of how signage can serve as a medium for cultural expression and calls attention to the need for contextually relevant signage in heritage tourism destination.
