Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease caused by impaired insulin action. The incidence of this disease is still increasing in Indonesia, especially type II DM. Measuring glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is the best glycemic control to determine blood glucose levels. Patients who have HbA1c levels >7% are at 2 times higher risk of experiencing complications. Checking HbA1c levels is very important to help establish the diagnosis, glycemic control and prognosis of type II DM. The aim of this study was to determine the description of HbA1c levels in type II diabetes mellitus patients at the Central BAZNAS Health Center in 2021 and the proportions based on region, age and type of therapy. This research uses a cross-sectional descriptive research type. The research sample included an affordable population that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria of 64 samples. The research data is in the form of secondary data obtained from the Hypertension Diabetes program from 2020. Most of the respondents were women (82.8%) and were in the age range of 51-60 years (37.5%) and the least were in the productive age, namely 30-40 year around 4.7%. Respondents who had taken diabetes mellitus medication after having an Hba1C examination showed that the majority (14 people) had normal HbA1C values <6.5% and continued (13 people) with results in the range of 8.7-9.6%. Bogor Regency and Bekasi City, the area with the most respondents is Bogor Regency because there are 2 assisted village points, namely in Ciampea District and Citayam Village, Bojonggede District

Abstract

The Beasiswa Cendekia BAZNAS Program is designed to support students in completing their undergraduate education while promoting poverty alleviation by transforming mustahik (beneficiaries) into muzaki (donors). This research analyzes the program’s effectiveness using a mixed-method approach, incorporating qualitative interviews with BAZNAS RI stakeholders and quantitative analysis of alumni tracer data to examine academic factors influencing alumni career outcomes. The findings reveal that academic factors significantly impact alumni career achievements. For instance, the 2018 alumni cohort has higher incomes compared to other cohorts, influenced by longer work experience and additional scholarship stipends during their studies. Furthermore, alumni from public universities and those in STEM fields tend to have the highest income levels, underscoring the significance of institutional reputation in the job market. Compared to the National Poverty Line 2024, 100% of the alumni are above this threshold. However, when compared to the Had Kifayah per capita per month, 18% of alumni are still below or near it, 70% have exceeded it but have not yet reached the zakat threshold, and 12% have reached the zakat threshold. This reflects the program's success in achieving its goals of poverty alleviation (moving out of poverty) and transforming mustahik into muzaki (moving out of mustahik). This research contributes academically by enriching the literature on the impact of philanthropic scholarships on the economic independence of its recipients. Practically, these findings can help BAZNAS enhance the effectiveness of its scholarship program by emphasizing factors that boost alumni career readiness and competitiveness.

Abstract

Freedom of the press is an important pillar in a democratic country, which makes it easier for the public to obtain accurate and relevant information, as well as to control government performance. However, in Indonesia press freedom has quite complicated challenges due to the emergence of the ITE Law (Information and Electronics Law). Therefore, this research aims to examine the role of law on press freedom, especially looking at the ITE Law and its impact on the democratic system in Indonesia. The method used in this research is literature study or library research using books, articles, journals and other related literature. The results of this research show that articles in the ITE Law, such as defamation and the spread of news whose truth is unclear (hoaxes), are often used to blame or harm journalists and media who are vocal about the performance of the government or certain groups. This causes a feeling of fear (chilling effect) which inhibits journalism and freedom of expression. Furthermore, this research examines that the use of the ITE Law will suppress press freedom which can cause loss of access to important information for society and political participation. This research suggests that there is a need for improvements in the ITE Law to clarify the limits on press freedom, as well as increase protection for journalists and media who carry out their duties according to the journalistic code of ethics
