Abstract

Indonesia is a country where the majority of its population works as farmers. One of the occupational health risks that can affect farmers is low back pain. An initial study, based on health data from the Matesih Health Center, found that many farmers in the area under the Matesih Health Center's jurisdiction reported complaints of low back pain. Therefore, efforts need to be made to reduce the risk of low back pain. The Mulyo Farmers' Group is one of the farmer associations in Gugur Village, Matesih District. Socialization is one of the efforts that can be made to increase knowledge about low back pain among the Mulyo Farmers' Group. This research used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 48 members of the Mulyo Farmers' Group, selected using simple random sampling. The statistical test used was the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The research activities included a pre-test, socialization about low back pain, and a post-test. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the level of knowledge before and after the socialization about low back pain in the Mulyo Farmers' Group.

Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that damages the immune system and weakens the body's ability to fight various types of diseases. If HIV is not treated, it can advance to the greater stage called Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The highest percentage of HIV infections is reported in the age group of 25-49. Meanwhile, people age 30-39 are the highest percentage of AIDS. Therefore, HIV/AIDS can pose a threat to workers in Indonesia, impacting the economy and causing issues within a company. Conference is conducted in order to increase knowledge of HIV Awareness at the workplace with 22 participants. The participants are expected to gain a knowledge about HIV transmission and HIV prevention at the workplace. The effectiveness level of the conference awareness is proven by pre-test and post-test. Pre-test showed that 8 participants answered correctly on the HIV transmission aspect, and 11 participants answered correctly on the HIV prevention aspect. Post test was conducted after the speaker deliver the material to the participants. The results are 15 participants answered correctly on the HIV transmission aspect, and 14 participants answered correctly on the HIV prevention aspect. The increased of knowledge after awareness conference on HIV transmission aspect showed 32% and HIV prevention aspect 14%.  It can be concluded that the conference awareness is an effective way to improve the knowledge of HIV awareness at the workplace

Abstract

Tuberkulosis atau penyakit TB merupakan salah satu penyakit menular yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. Penyakit TB sendiri masih menjadi permasalahan kesehatan masyarakat yang menjadi tantangan global. Salah satu upaya pemerintah dalam memfokuskan ppengendalian TBC bagi para pekerja melalui Permenkes nomor 67 tahun 2016 tentang penanggulangan TBC dan Permenaker Nomor 13 tahun 2022 tentang Penanggulangan TBC di tempat Kerja. Oleh karena itu kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan awareness dan pengetahuan para peserta webinar dalam upaya pengendalian TB di tempat kerja. Pelaksanaan kegiatan awareness ini dilakukan secara online melalui zoom webinar pada bulan Agustus 2023 dengan mengundang para pekerja profesional maupun calon pekerja freshgraduate serta peserta webinar lainnya yang tertarik dalam upaya pengendalian TB di tempat kerja. Dimana jumlah peserta webinar yang berpartisipasi sebanyak 22 peserta yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengetahuan peserta terhadap pengendalian TB di tempat kerja. Metode pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan cara presentasi awareness pengendalian TB di tempat Kerja yang dilanjutkan dengan diskusi tanya jawab serta memberikan pretest maupun post baik sebelum dan sesudah penyampaian awareness sebagai tolak ukur untuk mengetahui sejauh mana Tingkat pengetahuan peserta webinar terhadap pengendalian TB di tempat kerja. Adapun hasil yang didapat yaitu 95,45% peserta telah mengetahui gejala dan cara penularan TB, sebanyak 72,27% peserta sudah mengetahui cara pencegahan penularan TB tersebut.

Abstract

Knowledge of fire extinguishers is crucial for enhancing preparedness in the event of a fire, particularly within school environments. This community service activity aims to analyze the knowledge of students at SMAN 4 Surakarta regarding portable fire extinguishers and traditional fire extinguishing tools through an educational approach. The method employed involved a pre-test and post-test design administered to 49 students who participated in a socialization session and a demonstration on the use of fire extinguishers. The results indicated a significant increase in students' knowledge concerning the use of both portable and traditional fire extinguishing tools. This activity not only improved students' understanding but also fostered awareness of the importance of preparedness and individual roles in fire prevention. Direct education combined with practical demonstrations proved to be an effective, engaging, and applicable learning medium. It is hoped that similar programs can be continuously implemented across all schools in Surakarta to cultivate a culture of safety awareness from an early age.
