Abstract

Medical technological advancements have revealed previously unknown anatomical features in the nasal cavity known as tubarial glands. However, many questions remain unanswered concerning these glands. Through this systematic review, we sought to analyze the tubarial glands, including their major discovery, anatomical and histological features, and clinical significance. Articles were identified according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines, with data collected from Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and PubMed until September 2024. Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) were utilized with various terminology: "tubarial gland*", "tubarial salivary gland*", and "radiotherapy”. The inclusion criteria were: (1) resources categorized as original research reports, case reports, case studies, letters to the editor, brief communications, commentaries, editorials, and news; (2) publications with accessible full text; and (3) articles providing information on the tubarial glands. The exclusion criteria were: (1) papers categorized as systematic reviews, meta-analyses, or bibliometric analyses; and (2) articles not published in English. The identification yielded 37 resources from around the world, including 19 original research reports (51.3%), 3 case reports (8.1%), 6 letters to the editor (16.2%), 2 brief communications (5.4%), 7 commentaries (18.9%), 1 editorial (2.7%), and 1 news article (2.7%). The research subjects comprised 1 healthy patient (2.7%) out of 26 subjects, 12 prostate cancer patients (32.4%) out of 612 subjects, 3 head and neck cancer patients (8.1%) out of 38 subjects, 1 nasopharyngeal carcinoma patient (2.7%) out of 240 subjects, 1 Sjögren's syndrome patient (2.7%) out of 29 subjects, 1 patient with oncocytic papillary cystadenoma (2.7%), and 20 patients with other conditions (54.0%). This systematic review suggests that the newly discovered glands exhibit similar morphological, histological, and physiological properties to salivary glands and may have a function in the lubrication and maintenance of the upper airway.

Abstract

perilaku seks bebas melalui tempat prostitusi, salah satunya kawasan prostitusi Dolly, Surabaya. Tahun 2014, kawasan dolly telah ditutup secara resmi oleh pemerintah dan masih menyisakan pertanyaan apakah prevalensi HIV dan hepatitis B juga menurun. Keberadaan faktor resiko lain juga dapat menyebabkan meningkatnya prevalensi HIV dan hepatitis B. Oleh karena itu, tim TPK FK Ubaya melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan dengan melakukan screening faktor resiko obesitas dan hipertensi terhadap prevalensi HIV dan hepatitis B eks-dolly secara gratis. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh wanita di wilayah Kelurahan Putat Jaya berusia dewasa (18-65 tahun). Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode simple random sampling, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji non-parametrik korelasi Spearman. Set alat pengukuran yang digunakan antara lain timbangan berat dan tinggi badan 2in1, tensimeter digital, dan kit rapid test HIV dan hepatitis B. Hasil perolehan data, diketahui prevalensi HIV dan hepatitis B sangatlah sedikit, dan faktor resiko obesitas berkorelasi positif terhadap prevalensi hepatitis B (p=0.036). Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah melaporkan bahwa prevalensi HIV dan hepatitis B di kawasan eks-dolly menurun dan faktor resiko obesitas dan hipertensi dapat meningkatkan kembali prevalensi.

Abstract

Abstract—Infectious diseases remain a significant public health problem. One infectious disease can be caused by Escherichia coli. However, currently there is increasing resistance of Escherichia coli to several antibiotics. This has led to an increase in demand to develop new antibiotics that can overcome the development of resistance. Medicinal plants have enormous potential in the discovery of bioactive compounds that can fight resistant microorganisms. Nigella sativa L. is one such medicinal plant known for its antibacterial properties. The seed extract of Nigella sativa L. was obtained using the maceration method, resulting in four different concentrations: 12.5%, 25%, 50%, and 100%. These extracts were tested against Escherichia coli bacteria isolated on Mueller Hinton Agar media using the disk diffusion method. Nigella sativa L. seed extract with aquadest solvent produced average inhibition zone diameters of 0mm; 0mm; 0mm; 7mm, while with n-hexane solvent it produced average inhibition zone diameters of 0mm; 0mm; 0mm; 8.375mm at concentrations of 12.5%; 25%; 50%; 100%. The antibacterial activity of Nigella sativa L. seed extract was most effective at 100% concentration for both solvents. This study found no significant difference in antibacterial effectiveness between the aquadest and n-hexane solvent extracts of Nigella sativa L. against Escherichia coli. Keywords: nigella sativa L., rscherichia coli, antibacterial Abstrak—Penyakit infeksi masih menjadi salah satu masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang penting. Salah satu penyakit infeksi dapat disebabkan oleh Escherichia coli. Namun, saat ini ada peningkatan resistensi Escherichia coli terhadap beberapa antibiotik. Hal ini menyebabkan peningkatan permintaan untuk mengembangkan antibiotik baru yang dapat mengatasi perkembangan resistensi. Tanaman obat memiliki potensi besar dalam penemuan senyawa bioaktif yang dapat melawan mikroorganisme resisten. Nigella sativa L. adalah salah satu tanaman obat yang dikenal memiliki sifat antibakteri. Ekstrak biji Nigella sativa L. diperoleh menggunakan metode maserasi, menghasilkan empat konsentrasi berbeda: 12,5%, 25%, 50%, dan 100%. Ekstrak-ekstrak ini diuji terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli yang diisolasi pada media Agar Mueller Hinton menggunakan metode difusi cakram. Ekstrak biji Nigella sativa L. dengan pelarut aquadest menghasilkan diameter zona hambat rata-rata 0mm; 0mm; 0mm; 7mm, sedangkan dengan pelarut n-heksana menghasilkan diameter zona hambat rata-rata 0mm; 0mm; 0mm; 8,375mm pada konsentrasi 12,5%; 25%; 50%; 100%. Aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak biji Nigella sativa L. paling efektif pada konsentrasi 100% untuk kedua pelarut. Penelitian ini menemukan tidak ada perbedaan signifikan dalam efektivitas antibakteri antara ekstrak pelarut aquadest dan n-heksana dari Nigella sativa L. terhadap Escherichia coli.
