Abstract

Indonesia's palm oil industry has long faced criticism and denial, accusations that the palm oil industry is unsustainable, and smallholder plantations are seen as contributing to environmental risks. In response to this, the Indonesian government, to ensure the sustainability of the palm oil industry, created a sustainability standard called ISPO, which is mandated to be mandatory for all companies and smallholders through presidential regulation number 44/2020 with a grace period of 5 years to fulfill these obligations. However, these efforts faced various problems, especially for independent smallholders. Based on the problems faced, this study aims to determine the realization of ISPO principles and criteria and identify the achievement of ISPO principles and criteria in smallholder oil palm plantations in Tungkal Ilir District, Banyuasin Regency. The research method used is a quantitative descriptive approach with Guttman scale measurements to analyze the realization of the application of ISPO principles and criteria and identify the achievements of ISPO principles and criteria. From many study results, the realization of the implementation of ISPO principles and criteria in Tungkal Ilir District from the available indicators has yet to be met, and many still need to.  Many require more attention, including the criteria for legality and management of smallholders, criteria for obligations related to environmental permits, technical criteria for applying oil palm cultivation and transportation, and the principle of implementing transparency.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas penggunaan arang sekam bakar dan pupuk NPK terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan berbagai perlakuan pemberian arang sekam bakar dan pupuk NPK pada media tanam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi arang sekam dengan pupuk kandang, khususnya dengan perbandingan 1:1 memberikan kontribusi nyata terhadap peningkatan tinggi bibit kelapa sawit dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan perlakuan memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan bibit, dengan perlakuan P2 menghasilkan pertumbuhan tertinggi. Temuan ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya penggunaan media tanam yang tepat untuk optimalisasi pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit, yang dapat berimplikasi praktis terhadap pengelolaan perkebunan kelapa sawit.

Abstract

Distribusi kernel sawit memiliki kendala selisih tonase awal pengiriman dan saat diterima di perusahaan. Tonase kernel dipengaruhi oleh perbedaan kadar air, sistem penimbangan, serta penanganan dan penyimpanan kernel tanpa perlakuan khusus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbandingan selisih tonase kernel sawit dari tiga pemasok ke PT. XYZ Kalimantan Tengah selama periode 2022–2024 serta memberikan rekomendasi peningkatan efisiensi logistik. Data yang digunakan berupa data sekunder kuantitatif dari distributor yang mencakup tonase pengiriman, penerimaan, dan selisih tonase per bulan. Analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif-kuantitatif menggunakan Microsoft Excel untuk menghitung tren dan rata-rata selisih tonase antar pemasok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata selisih tonase setiap pemasok berada di sekitar 0%, dengan penyimpangan signifikan pada pemasok 1 di Agustus 2022 sebesar -39,72% dan pemasok 2 di Oktober 2022 serta Januari 2024 masing-masing sebesar -9,02% dan -18,94%. Pemasok 3 memiliki efisiensi logistik paling stabil dengan selisih tonase paling kecil. Perbedaan kalibrasi timbangan, kadar air kernel, dan penutupan muatan yang kurang rapat selama distribusi menjadi penyebab utama selisih tonase. Implikasi penelitian diperlukan penguatan standarisasi alat timbang dan prosedur distribusi untuk menjaga konsistensi tonase. Hasil penelitian diharapkan menjadi dasar evaluasi bagi pemasok, distributor, dan PT. XYZ dalam meningkatkan efisiensi rantai pasok kernel sawit.

Abstract

This study examines the potential of Jamaican cherry (JC) and stevia, a natural sweetener, as an anti-gout jam. It aims to evaluate the effects of JC leaf and stevia extracts on the jam’s chemical, physical, and organoleptic qualities, finding the optimal formulation and ascertaining whether feeding JC jam lowers mice’s blood uric acid levels. A complete block design with two factors was applied. The two factors were JC leaf extract (A1: 30%, A2: 50%, A3: 70%) and stevia extract (B1: 1%, B2: 2%, B3 3%). The findings indicate that, while there was no significant shift in the jam’s viscosity, sugar reduction, color, flavor, aroma, or spreadability, adding more JC leaf extract did affect its pH and moisture content. Similarly, stevia extract did not affect flavor, color, spreadability, viscosity, and sugar reduction, but it significantly impacted pH, moisture content, and aroma. The ideal jam formulation was a blend of 70% JC leaf extract (A3) and 3% stevia extract (B3), with a preference score of 4.66 (neutral), a viscosity of 387.50 cP, a pH of 4.16, a moisture content of 59.38%, and a sugar reduction of 1.85%. According to the results of the in vitro test, the JC jam successfully lowered uric acid levels to normal conditions at 4.92 mg/dL.
