Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of the CIRC type Cooperative Learning learning model in reading comprehension material for grade 4 at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al Barokah An-Nur Ajung, Jember. This research was conducted due to the background in which students find it difficult to understand and find information on a reading text and on the other hand students also have problems, namely they are easily bored in following lessons in class. Then the class teacher decided to apply the CIRC learning model, therefore researchers were interested in conducting research on the application of the CIRC learning model. The subjects of this study were fourth grade students. This study used a qualitative method. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses condensation, data display and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that with the application of the CIRC learning model, students can easily understand and obtain information about the content of reading texts. Where in the implementation of the CIRC learning model students are required to work in groups so that students gain new experiences in learning, besides that students will be more confident in expressing their opinions in group learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using the "guess the picture" media in developing receptive language skills among first-grade students at MI Nurul Huda. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observations and interviews with teachers and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings reveal that the use of the "guess the picture" media has a significantly positive impact on the development of students’ receptive language skills at the elementary school/madrasah ibtidaiyah level. Students became more active, enthusiastic, and responsive during the learning process. The "guess the picture" media also contributed to enhancing students' cognitive abilities, such as recognizing new vocabulary related to environmental themes, narrating simple picture stories, and understanding storylines based on a sequence of images. Additionally, careful planning prior to the use of the "guess the picture" media was found to be crucial in supporting successful learning outcomes. Despite encountering some challenges, such as teachers struggling to design engaging media suited to students’ developmental levels, overall, the "guess the picture" media proved to be an effective and efficient tool in developing receptive language skills. This study recommends the use of "guess the picture" media as an innovative and enjoyable learning method to enhance receptive language intelligence in elementary school/madrasah ibtidaiyah students.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum promotes deep learning to cultivate meaningful understanding, critical thinking, and 21st-century competencies among students. However, its implementation in Islamic primary schools (madrasahs) remains challenging due to limited resources, teacher readiness, and contextual constraints. This study explores the strategies employed by Teacher Leaders (Guru Penggerak) in implementing deep learning within two madrasahs: MI Raudhatul Jannah Jenggawah and MI Al Barokah Annur Jember. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, six teacher leaders (three from each school) participated in in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation analysis. The findings indicate that teacher leaders initially encountered misconceptions and anxiety regarding deep learning, often equating it with technology integration. Over time, they adopted adaptive strategies such as project-based learning, reflective questioning, simple learning media, and integrating cultural and family experiences into classroom activities. Despite challenges such as limited digital facilities, time constraints, and occasional parental resistance, these strategies fostered greater student engagement and active participation. The study underscores the pivotal role of teacher leaders as change agents who bridge the gap between curriculum ideals and classroom realities. Contextual, resource-sensitive strategies and sustained professional development are essential to ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of deep learning in madrasah settings.
