Abstract

This research focuses on the study of literary sociology. Using the novel Saga dari Samudra by Ratih Kumala, will be studied influence of social background in the story based on problems of human life. Specifically, problems will be limited to human relationships with themselves and from outside. After analysis, it was found that parenting patterns and upbringing from the family and environment influence human traits and attitudes in acting. In general, individual behavior can be seen from human relationship with themselves, human relationships with others–including human, animal and plant, also human relationship with God. Individuals who have good relationships with others can adapt easily to every location they live. Apart from that, have a mature mindset and an open mind. He can also accept and respect opinions that differ from his own.

Abstract

This research aims to trace the trajectory of Alia Swastika (AS) in achieving her position as a leading curator in Indonesia. Using Pierre Bourdieu's theory of cultural production, this study analyzes the relationship between cultural capital and habitus that support AS in gaining legitimacy within the art field, particularly in curatorial practices. The research also examines the strategies AS employed in managing her cultural capital to reach her current status. The results show that AS does not solely rely on her inherent habitus but successfully manages the accumulation of cultural capital and employs effective symbolic strategies to secure legitimacy in the art arena.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelusuri rekam jejak Alia Swastika (AS) dalam mencapai posisinya sebagai kurator terkemuka di Indonesia. Dengan menggunakan teori arena produksi kultural Pierre Bourdieu, penelitian ini menganalisis hubungan antara modal kultural dan habitus yang mendukung AS dalam memperoleh legitimasi di arena seni rupa, khususnya dalam bidang kuratorial. Penelitian ini juga mengkaji strategi yang digunakan AS dalam mengelola modal tersebut untuk mencapai posisinya saat ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa AS tidak hanya mengandalkan habitus yang ia miliki, tetapi juga berhasil mengelola akumulasi modal kultural dan menerapkan strategi simbolik yang efektif, sehingga memperoleh legitimasi di dunia seni rupa.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has opened new opportunities in both art practice and education, one of which is through code-based generative art. However, for art students, programming is often perceived as a barrier due to its complexity and lack of beginner-friendly accessibility. This study aims to explore p5.js as an inclusive medium in generative art practice, focusing on the creation of algorithm-based visual works. The research employs a practice-based research approach, where the creation process is carried out through a series of algorithmic experiments involving iteration, branching, transformation, randomness, and mathematical functions. Each experiment produces visual outputs that are documented and reflectively analyzed to understand the relationship between algorithmic structures and the resulting aesthetic outcomes. The findings show that p5.js, with its simple, web-based, and easily accessible interface, is effective as an inclusive medium for learning generative art. This process not only produces representative artworks but also demonstrates how algorithms can function as a visual language that bridges art and technology within the context of art education.
