Abstract

Female Masculinity under the Shadow of Femininity in the Folktale of I Marabintang. The problem in this study is how is the nature of female masculinity under the shadow of femininity in the folklore of I Marabintang? This research aims to describe the masculinity of women in the folklore of I Marabintang. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive analysis method. The approach used in this research is a feminist approach using the concept of masculine and feminine theory. The data in this research is the folklore of I Marabintang which was booked by the Center for Language Development and Development of the Ministry of Education and Culture Jakarta in 1999. The result of this research is that the forms of masculinity in women are illustrated physically, psychologically, behaviorally, and in action. The conclusion of this research is that masculinity and femininity in women can be said to always go hand in hand. Masculine women are always overshadowed by the feminine side, and feminine women can also bring out the masculine side dominantly because of a demand. This condition makes the three female characters in the folklore I Marabintang as androgynous. Maskulinitas Perempuan di Bawah Bayang-Bayang Feminin dalam Cerita rakyat I Marabintang. Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana sifat maskulinitas perempuan yang berada di bawah bayang-bayang feminitas dalam cerita rakyat I Marabintang? Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan maskulinitas perempuan dalam cerita rakyat I Marabintang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu pendekatan feminisme menggunakan konsep teori maskulin dan feminin. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah cerita rakyat I Marabintang yang dibukukan oleh Pusat Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Bahasa Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Jakarta pada tahun 1999. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa bentuk-bentuk maskulinitas pada perempuan diilustrasikan secara fisik, psikis, prilaku, dan tindakan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa maskulinitas dan feminitas pada perempuan dapat dikatakan selalu beriringan. Perempuan maskulin selalu dibayangi sisi feminin dan perempuan feminin dapat memunculkan sisi maskulin pula secara dominan karena adanya sebuah tuntutan. Kondisi tersebut menjadikan ketiga tokoh perempuan dalam cerita rakyat I Marabintang sebagai androgini.

Abstract

This research aims to trace the trajectory of Alia Swastika (AS) in achieving her position as a leading curator in Indonesia. Using Pierre Bourdieu's theory of cultural production, this study analyzes the relationship between cultural capital and habitus that support AS in gaining legitimacy within the art field, particularly in curatorial practices. The research also examines the strategies AS employed in managing her cultural capital to reach her current status. The results show that AS does not solely rely on her inherent habitus but successfully manages the accumulation of cultural capital and employs effective symbolic strategies to secure legitimacy in the art arena.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelusuri rekam jejak Alia Swastika (AS) dalam mencapai posisinya sebagai kurator terkemuka di Indonesia. Dengan menggunakan teori arena produksi kultural Pierre Bourdieu, penelitian ini menganalisis hubungan antara modal kultural dan habitus yang mendukung AS dalam memperoleh legitimasi di arena seni rupa, khususnya dalam bidang kuratorial. Penelitian ini juga mengkaji strategi yang digunakan AS dalam mengelola modal tersebut untuk mencapai posisinya saat ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa AS tidak hanya mengandalkan habitus yang ia miliki, tetapi juga berhasil mengelola akumulasi modal kultural dan menerapkan strategi simbolik yang efektif, sehingga memperoleh legitimasi di dunia seni rupa.

Abstract

This article examines the representation of subalternity in the monologue script Balada Sumarah by Tentrem Lestari, focusing on the struggle of a woman named Sumarah who is marginalized due to the political and social stigma attached to her family, particularly after the G30S/PKI tragedy. The study aims to uncover how subaltern groups, in this case, Sumarah, attempt to speak out and seek justice within an oppressive system. A qualitative approach with text analysis is used to identify the dynamics of power, structural violence, and dominance relations reflected in the narrative. The research findings show that despite Sumarah's efforts to resist stigma through education, work, and attempts to speak in court, her voice and struggles remain ignored by the prevailing social system. Sumarah's death marks the final point, reflecting the inability of the social structure to provide space for subaltern groups to participate in the dominant discourse. The study also reveals how Balada Sumarah portrays symbolic violence and social exclusion as ongoing forms of oppression against marginalized groups
