Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of planting media composition and types of NPK fertilizers (compound and mixed) on the growth of pre-nursery oil palm seedlings. The study was conducted in September - November 2023 at the Instiper Yogyakarta Education and Research Garden. This study used a factorial experimental method arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of two factors, namely the composition of the planting media (clay, sand, sand + clay + organic fertilizer, sand + clay, clay + organic fertilizer, sand + organic fertilizer) and types of NPK compound fertilizers (compound fertilizer 15-15-15 and mixed fertilizer 0.30g Urea + 0.30g TSP + 0.25 g MOP). The results showed that the treatment of NPK fertilizer types (compound and mixed) and planting media composition interacted significantly with the height of pre-nursery oil palm seedlings, where the combination of clay soil media with mixed fertilizers produced a plant height of 25.90 cm. The treatment of planting media composition significantly affects the number of leaves, where the composition of sand + clay + organic fertilizer produces the highest number of leaves, which is 4 strands. Furthermore, treating NPK fertilizer types (compound and mixed) also significantly affects the diameter of pre-nursery oil palm seedlings, where using mixed fertilizers gives the highest stem diameter results, which is 9.46 cm.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the impact of the combination between the dosage of P fertilizer and the inoculum dose of Rhizobium sp. on M. bracteata plants' root nodule growth and creation, the effect of P fertilizer doses on M. bracteata plants' root nodule growth and creation and the effect of Rhizobium sp. inoculum doses, on M. bracteata plants' root nodule growth and creation. This research was carried out at KP2 of the STIPER Agricultural Institute which is located in Wedomartani Village, Depok District, Sleman Regency, DIY, with an altitude of 118 meters above sea level, from January to June 2024. This research was carried out using a two-factor experimental method prepared in RAL. The first factor is the dose of P fertilizer (TSP) consisting of 4 dose levels, namely: 0 g/polybag, 1 g/polybag, 2 g/polybag, and 3 g/polybag. The second factor is the dose of Rhizobium sp. inoculum which consists of 4 dosage levels, namely: 0 g/polybag, 5 g/polybag, 10 g/polybag, 15 g/polybag. These two variables were used to create 4 x 4 = 16 treatment combinations. Each treatment was then repeated four times, resulting in 16 x 4 = 64 experimental plants in terms of seeds. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to assess the research data at the 5% significant level. The treatment that had a real effect in the DMRT follow-up test was at the 5% significant level. The results of the research showed that there was a real interaction between the treatment combination of P fertilizer dose and Rhizobium sp. inoculum dose on the parameters of fresh root weight, root length, number of ineffective root nodules, shoot dry weight and root dry weight. The combination of P fertilizer dose of 1 g/plant and Rhizobium inoculum 5 g/plant produces the best fresh root weight, the combination of P fertilizer dose of 0 g/plant and Rhizobium inoculum 10 g/plant produces the best root length, the combination of P fertilizer dose of 0 g/plant and Rhizobium inoculum 15 g/plant produced the least number of ineffective root nodules, the combination of P fertilizer dose 1 g/plant and Rhizobium inoculum 5 g/plant produced the best shoot dry weight, the combination dose of P fertilizer 1 g/plant and Rhizobium inoculum 5 g/ plants produce the best root dry weight. Providing P fertilizer doses of 0, 1, 2, and 3 g/plant had the same effect on the growth and formation of root nodules of M. bracteata plants. Giving Rhizobium sp. inoculum doses of 0, 5, 10, and 15 g/plant had the similar impact on M. bracteata plant development and nodule production.

Abstract

Oil palm plants are commodities that are mostly processed to produce CPO (Crude Palm Oil) and PKO (Palm Kernel Oil), processing plants also produce waste (by product). The highest waste produced is liquid waste (POME) around 65% and empty palm bunches around 23%. In an effort to reduce environmental pollution, the company is committed to implementing zero waste by reusing palm oil mill waste as organic fertilizer. Research with the aim to determine the effect of the application of palm oil mill effluent, empty fruit bunches, and non-application (inorganic fertilizer) was conducted at the Sungai Rungau Estate (SRGE) plantation, PT Binasawit Abadi Pratama, East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan, from November 2023 - April 2024. The research used a survey method to describe the research site and collect primary and secondary data, with each application consisting of 3 blocks. Production data and agronomic characters obtained were then analyzed using t test at 5% level. The results revealed that the application of POME resulted in higher agronomic and production characteristics than tankos. Oil palm production in blocks applied with POME and inorganic fertilizers showed values that were not significantly different and higher than tankos application blocks, and POME application showed productivity that tended to be stable every year.
