Abstract

The challenge of education today is to create a generation that is not only knowledgeable, but also has strong characters, such as curiosity and concern for the environment. However, formal learning often does not provide enough space for exploration and active involvement of students, so that the development of these two characters is hampered. This study aims to build students' curiosity and environmental awareness through research-based learning at the Nature School PKBM Sanggar Anak Alam (SALAM). The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with quantitative analysis, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Character building is carried out through direct exploration of the surrounding natural environment facilitated by research methods. The results of the study showed that research-based learning encourages students to ask questions, conduct experiments, and explore independently, thereby increasing their curiosity. In addition, students demonstrate real actions in protecting the environment, which reflects the development of environmental awareness. This research-based learning proves that students' active involvement in contextual learning can strengthen their positive character, while creating relevant and meaningful learning experiences

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika terkait penjumlahan dan pengurangan pecahan dengan penyebut yang berbeda di sekolah dasar masih menjadi salah satu materi yang sulit dipahami oleh siswa. Kesulitan dalam memahami materi tersebut berdampak pada kemampuan siswa yang rendah dalam menyelesaikan berbagai permasalahan matematika, terutama yang berkaitan dengan pemahaman konsep serta langkah-langkah dalam melakukan operasi pecahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk pengkajian berbagai kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa dalam mempelajari operasi penjumlahan dan pengurangan pecahan dengan penyebut berbeda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi literatur dengan menelaah 15 artikel penelitian yang bersumber dari jurnal nasional maupun internasional. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif deskriptif untuk mengidentifikasi bentuk kesulitan belajar dan faktor penyebabnya. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa siswa masih mengalami kendala dalam memahami konsep dasar pecahan, menyamakan penyebut, melakukan prosedur operasi hitung, serta menginterpretasikan soal cerita. Kesulitan yang dialami siswa berkaitan dengan aspek dari dalam diri, seperti rendahnya dorongan belajar dan lemahnya penguasaan konsep awal, serta kondisi di luar siswa, di antaranya penerapan strategi pembelajaran yang kurang beragam dan keterbatasan penggunaan media pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi acuan bagi guru dalam merancang pembelajaran yang lebih efektif untuk mengatasi kesulitan belajar pecahan di sekolah dasar.
