Abstract

In this modern era, where environmental challenges are becoming an urgent issue society faces, the need to foster students"™ science literacy and scientific attitude is becoming crucial. Science literacy empowers individuals to make informed decisions, understand the complexities of the natural world, and solve environmental issues. In practical life, a scientific attitude is the tendency to act and behave in a predetermined way when solving challenges. The Environmental learning approach addresses the challenge by connecting scientific concepts to real-world environmental issues, allowing students to explore environmental challenges and equipping them with practical skills. This research focuses on seeking information about students"™ profile of science literacy and scientific attitude through implementing the environmental learning approach and identifies the correlation between them. This research implements a correlation research design. The purposive sampling method is carried out to define the participants of this research, which are 27 students (12 male and 15 female). The data is collected through an observation sheet and ten short answer questions which was analyzed through descriptive statistics and Pearson"™s Correlation Coefficient. The correlation coefficient result show the number of 0.806 and a significance level (p-value) of 0.000 means a positive and strong correlation between students"™ science literacy and scientific attitude. In conclusion, the connection highlights students"™ capability to grasp phenomena and apply scientific concepts when facing environmental problems.

Abstract

In the digital world, technology is an important part of human life, driving demand for technology-literate human resources. As technology becomes an integral part of human life, introducing it to young children will benefit them. One approach is to bring the pre-coding concept into the classroom. This community service was held in Bandung, West Java, in partnership with Sekolah Karakter RA SBB Hidayatul Musthafa. The workshop consisted of three stages: an initial phase including socialization, a workshop day, and an evaluation phase. In the main phase, the workshop discussed the need to introduce pre-coding to preschool students, followed by the installation of Gcompris software. In the second session, the teachers are assisted in using Code.org and Scratch Jr as tools to introduce pre-coding concepts to preschool students. At the end, teachers’ interest and self-efficacy regarding teaching the pre-coding concept to early childhood students were assessed. The data indicate that teachers’ interest and self-efficacy are moderate. Therefore, it can be concluded that future training and workshops related to pre-coding will be highly valuable for early childhood teachers.

Abstract

The problem in this case is the requirement to examine the similarity between the students' theoretical knowledge (determined by the test results) and their competencies and engagement (determined by the results of the non-test assessment). The purpose of this study is to examine the relation between the test results and the non-test results among students in the Plant Structure and Function class. The data collected in this study came from 131 prospective junior high school teachers in the field of sciences. The results of the analysis in this case show that the Test results are positively associated and strongly significant with the results of the Non-Test results in this study with the value of the correlation coefficient (r = 0.357) and significance (p = 0.000). In fact, there is no causal relationship between the results in the two tests but there is an associative relation. The results in this study can be considered as a source for the teachers in constructing a comprehensive evaluation system.

Abstract

AI technology has developed rapidly. Its use in education is currently a focus of attention. The purpose of this activity is to provide education to the public about eye makeup and its impact on eye health in the form of bulletin media. The target subjects of this activity are people who receive information via Whatsapp links. The material delivered through the bulletin is facts and myths about eye makeup and health; how to choose makeup products that are safe for the eyes, and the risk of eye infection due to the use of unhygienic eye makeup. The content of the bulletin media is compiled with the help of AI, which is then evaluated and edited by the author for the accuracy of the information. The media design was carried out using Canva and image assets from Freepik. From the results of the activity, it was found that the majority of participants were not aware that the bulletin media was made by integrating AI technology. In addition, all participants, who were women, also stated that they felt the benefits of the information conveyed from the bulletin media. Thus, it can be concluded that AI can be integrated in the creation of media for community service activities while still upholding responsibility and ethics.
