Abstract

The ever-changing and complex dynamics of societal life give rise to various forms of social issues. One of the common consequences is the loss of empathy, leading individuals to harm or even take the lives of others. This highlights the need to foster empathy in a society constantly facing diverse challenges. One way to achieve this is through civic engagement in social programs implemented by social organizations. Such involvement can reveal various forms of empathetic behavior expressed by the community during the implementation of these programs. This study aims to provide an overview of the forms of empathy behavior reflected in the community through the social program of the Gerak Bareng organization. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The results showed that the forms of empathic behavior that are manifested in the community through citizen involvement in Gerak Bareng's social programs include compassion, giving and sharing, and cooperation. The role of Gerak Bareng in fostering community empathy is demonstrated through civic engagement in Gerak Bareng's social programs with the formation of empathetic behaviors within the community such as compassion, mutual giving, sharing, and collaboration.

Abstract

National identity is a characteristic of a country that must be taught to the next generation of the nation so that they understand it and are able to realize education that is oriented towards national education goals. Learning about national identity can be realized through extracurricular activities. One of the extracurricular activities in schools and colleges is scouting. This makes the role of extracurricular scouting education important. Initially, extracurricular scouting was a mandatory activity, but over time there was a government policy that changed extracurricular scouting to only be an option. So the purpose of this writing is to analyze changes in extracurricular scouting regulations for Indonesian national identity. The type of research is a qualitative approach with a literature review method that analyzes changes in extracurricular scouting regulations for Indonesian national identity education. The results of this study are that even though the regulations on extracurricular scouting activities have been changed, the material in scouting activities is still continuous with the material on the nation's national identity. There are still many differences of opinion regarding the changes to the scouting extracurricular activities, of course this is something that is worth discussing by the rule makers.

Abstract

The community service activity was carried out to assist SMPS Waladun Sholeh in conducting an inspection of school building conditions, specifically regarding structural, architectural, and utility elements, which have posed challenges due to limited technical expertise within the school. The inspection plays an important role since school buildings are fundamental to maintaining the continuity of the teaching–learning process. The method employed was on-site inspection, including visual observation, measurements, inventorying building elements, and quantitative analysis of damage levels. In addition, interviews were conducted with school representatives to obtain supporting information regarding the history of damage and maintenance. The activity stages included: (a) initial coordination and collection of basic building data; (b) field inspection of structural, architectural, and utility components; (c) analysis of damage levels and determination of the building condition category; and (d) dissemination of inspection results and proposed follow-up plans to the school. The results indicate that most building components remain in good condition, with minor damage predominating and accounting for 13.40% of the total elements inspected. However, an uneven settlement of the foundation was detected, causing cracks and deformations in several parts of the building.
