Abstract

Ethnomathematics is one of the fields of study of mathematics applied by certain cultural groups. Ethnomathematics is learning based on local culture so that students can simultaneously recognise and explore the culture of their nation. This research aims to find out the role of ethnomathematics in learning mathematics. This research is a type of literature research with a qualitative approach. How to collect data by means of document studies and analysed with descriptive analysis techniques. Library research is research whose data comes from books, documents, magazines, journals and so on. The analysis technique used is descriptive analysis technique by looking at research data that has been carried out by previous researchers related to ethnomathematics research. Based on a review of previous research, the result of this study is that ethnomathematics has many roles in learning mathematics, including: 1) improving mathematical understanding skills, 2) improving students' mathematical abilities, 3) strengthening cultural wisdom in mathematics learning, 4) developing mathematical literacy skills, and 5) developing media for mathematics learning.

Abstract

Memorizing the Qur'an can enhance intellectual and spiritual intelligence. This activity involves mental aspects, which are influenced by motivation. Therefore, this study aims to determine the correlation score between students' motivation in memorizing the Qur'an and their academic performance in the Tahfidz Al-Qur'an course. The research method is descriptive quantitative using SPSS analysis. The sample selection used purposive sampling, where the sample consisted of 19 students who are Qur'an memorizers (hafidz). Data collection methods included a questionnaire on motivation for memorizing the Qur'an and learning outcomes in the Tahfidz Al-Qur'an course. The results showed that (1) From 19 students who completed the questionnaire, the mean value was 54.53, (2) The average score of assignments, midterm, and final exams in the Tahfidz Al-Qur'an course showed an average value of 82.58, (3) The hypothesis test results from Pearson correlation test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 with a Pearson correlation value of 0.977, indicating a perfect correlation, and simple linear regression test showed a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, with F-value = 354.812, and R square value showing a score of 0.954. This means there is an influence of Tahfidz Al-Qur'an Motivation on Student Achievement variable of 95.4%.Keyword - Motivation, Student Achievement, Tahfidz Al-Qur'an.

Abstract

This qualitative descriptive study aims to describe students' mathematical literacy skills in solving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions on matrix material. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The subjects of this study were 6 students of class XI IPA SMA Al-Azhar Jambi. The instrument used is the initial ability test which contains 5 items, the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) written test which contains 3 essay questions and interview guidelines. Data analysis techniques include domain, taxonomy and componential analysis. The results of this study are: 1) It shows that all subjects meet the communication indicators (except S6), S1, S2, S3, S4 almost meet the indicators of mathematization, problem solving strategies and the use of formal and symbolic language, technical and operational languages, S5 and S6 do not meet the three indicators, and 2) the factors that affect mathematical literacy skills are: students' perceptions of the importance of mathematics, self-confidence in mathematical abilities, teacher quality in teaching, teacher character in teaching, models, media, strategies, approaches used in teaching, learning, limited time in working, level of HOTS questions and student interest in solving problems.
