Abstract

Social media has become an important part of the daily life of modern society, especially among teenagers. This study aims to analyze social networks in modern society with a case study on the use of Instagram social media among adolescents. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach while the data collection technique is through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that the use of Instagram by teenagers can affect social networks. Teens tend to choose friends with similar interests and follow accounts that are relevant to their interests. However, the use of Instagram can also expand teens' social networks by allowing them to connect with people from different backgrounds. The results of our research show that Instagram has become a significant platform for sociology students to build and expand social networks. Through features such as following, liking, and commenting on posts, sociology students can connect with fellow students, lecturers, and professionals in the field of sociology. In analyzing the data collected, we found that the use of Instagram by sociology students made it possible to expand the social network widely. Sociology students connect with people who share similar interests and interests in sociology, both on campus and off-campus.

Abstract

This study examines the forms and dynamics of social solidarity among urban communities living in the BTN Citra Persada Nyamarai housing complex, West Lombok. This area reflects the social reality of urban communities living in physical and social barriers due to the design of residential spaces, high mobility, and diverse socio-economic backgrounds. A qualitative approach was used in this study with data collection techniques through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings show that although interactions between residents tend to be limited and fragmented, there are patterns of solidarity that develop through informal mechanisms such as social gatherings, religious activities, and environmental emergency response. This study reveals that solidarity in urban spaces does not always weaken, but undergoes a transformation in form from mechanical solidarity to organic solidarity based on shared needs and interests. The results of this study contribute to the understanding of how urban communities build social cohesion in the context of changes in spatial planning and modern lifestyles.

Abstract

Low student learning outcomes are attributed to ineffective classrom learning processes and limited student engagement in learning activities. This study aimed to determine the effect of the probing promting learning model assisted by picture media on students’ learning outcomes in sociology. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a pretest-posttest control group design. The population consisted of 180 eleventh-grade social science students at SMAN 3 Mataram. The sample was selected through a simple random sampling technique after class matching had been conducted, resulting in class XI IPS-6 as the experimental group and class XI IPS-3 as the control group. The research instrument was an essay test that had been previously tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality testing, homogeneity testing, and hypothesis testing using the Independent Samples t-test with the assistance of SPSS 26.0 for Windows. The results revealed that the mean learning outcome score of students in the experimental class was 88.17, which was higher than that of the control class at 80.00. The hypothesis testing showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the probing promting learning model assisted by picture media has a positive effect on students’ sociology learning outcomes at SMAN 3 Mataram. Abstract

The low level of student learning participation in sociology learning is indicated by the lack of student involvement in asking questions, expressing opinions, discussing, and concluding the learning material. This study aims to determine the effect of the 5E learning cycle model assisted by thinglink media on student learning participation in Sociology subjects. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type and a posttest only design with a non-equivalent control group design. The study population was all 200 students of grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Gunungsari. The research sample was determined using a simple random sampling technique after class matching so that class XI-I was obtained as the experimental class and class XI-K as the control class, each consisting of 33 students. The research instrument was a student learning participation observation sheet that had met the validity and reliability tests. Data analysis was carried out through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests using independent samples t-tests. The results showed that the average student learning participation in the experimental class was 82.42, higher than the control class at 71.51. The results of the hypothesis test obtained a Sig. value. (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05 and the calculated T value (5.203) > Ttable (1.998) so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the 5E learning cycle model assisted by thinglink media has a significant effect on student learning participation in Sociology subjects at SMA Negeri 1 Gunungsari.
