Abstract

At the end of December 2023, there was a problem of surface runoff or runoff at several locations in Sikka Regency. The impact of this runoff caused traffic flow activities to become congested due to sedimentation in the form of plastic, wood, and rubbish from the drainage towards the road; and in February 2024 there a problem of thousands of toddlers in Sikka Regency experiencing stunting/malnutrition. These two problems raise a question about the quality of drainage channels and irrigation channels in Sikka district, whether they function optimally in minimizing urban runoff for urban drainage, and can channel water flow to tertiary plots to irrigate rice fields for the irrigation network system. ?; this research aims to provide information to readers regarding the quality assessment of the physical infrastructure of urban drainage infrastructure and existing irrigation networks based on Ministerial Regulation Number 12/PRT/2015. The method used in this research is a case study or field study method, at 5 research locations, namely urban drainage in the districts of Kota Uneng, Kabor, and Beru as well as the Koro Irrigation Network in Magepanda District and the Kojablo Irrigation Network in Talibura District; Next, the data is processed and analyzed using Excel 2019 software and conclusions are drawn. The research results show that the percentage for urban drainage is 31%, categorized as severely damaged drainage conditions; while the percentage of the irrigation network was 58.50%, which was categorized as the condition of the irrigation network being moderately damaged.

Abstract

Natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis can cause death, damage, and property loss for humans. However, this event does not have a bad impact if a building is designed to be earthquake-resistant according to the SNI 1726:2019 standard. SMAN 1 Nangapanda is a school located in the Ende district, this location is close to the coast which has the potential to pose a tsunami hazard; PkM aims to provide education to the school community regarding earthquake disaster mitigation so that disaster victims can be minimised. Implementing this PkM uses methods including material presentations, discussions, and quizzes; and installing evacuation routes at earthquake gathering points in the school environment. The team provided material with a duration of 15 minutes, then gave a quiz and ended with installing an earthquake evacuation route. The results of the PkM running smoothly, and satisfactorily, by the objectives, can be seen from the enthusiasm of the participants in analyzing the animated images in the pamphlets distributed, answering the quiz questions given, activeness in asking and arguing regarding natural disaster mitigation, as well as participation in the activity of installing evacuation route poles gathering point located in the school area. As a follow-up to community service, it is necessary to add simulation activities during the earthquake and tsunami, so that the entire school community can practice these situations.

Abstract

Wairkoja Village is one of the villages in the Kewapante Sub-district, Sikka Regency, where drought issues have been identified in several areas of agricultural land. A survey conducted on-site revealed extremely dry soil conditions, and the main crop, maize, had dried up or failed to yield. This research is highly urgent to address the drought problem in the study area. Through this research, it is possible to evaluate drought events, including the drought index, the impact of drought on the economic growth of residents, recommendations for addressing drought issues, and educational information regarding the drought index through web-based digital media. The purpose of this study is to provide information about the drought index at the study location using the Thornthwaite-Mather water balance method and to offer recommendations to farmers regarding the impacts of drought problems (crop failure) based on the levels of the drought index. Additionally, it aims to develop a drought index calculation website using the Thornthwaite-Mather water balance method to deliver information about drought issues in specific areas. This research employs ArcGIS software to analyze data, including soil type maps, land use maps, and topographic maps of the study area. The outputs of this research will provide information on the drought index in the study location using the web-based Thornthwaite-Mather water balance method. This study is classified as basic research with Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 2: formulation of concepts and/or technological applications.
