Abstract

Bacakground: Pharmacists are health workers who have important responsibilities in drug management. However, there are still many violations of the code of ethics and lack of understanding of the regulations governing pharmaceutical practices, which can potentially endanger patients. Aim: This study aims to analyze the impact, sanctions, and legal protection related to the provision of expired drugs to patients. Method: The method in this research is qualitative descriptive analysis. The author collected data from various sources, including relevant regulations, case studies, and academic literature, to assess pharmacists' compliance with applicable pharmaceutical regulations. Results: Many pharmacists have not fully complied with existing regulations, especially in terms of drug management and storage. The findings also indicate the need for stricter law enforcement as well as increased training for pharmacists in understanding ethics and regulations. Conclusion: dispensing expired medicines has the potential to cause serious health impacts, including decreased drug efficacy and increased risk of side effects for patients. To address violations in the management of expired drugs, the relevant regulations provide for strict law enforcement as a sanction for violators, so as to encourage compliance with existing standards. In addition, legal protection for patients is stipulated in the law, which guarantees their right to obtain safe and quality medicines, in accordance with established quality standards. Keywords : Expired medication; pharmacy code of ethics; pharmaceutical work

Abstract

Lung cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide, so the development of effective drugs is urgently needed. This study aims to identify potential chemical compounds as lung cancer drug candidates through molecular docking analysis. This study used a narrative literature review method with data collected from PubMed using specific keywords such as "Molecular docking," "Lung cancer," "Drug candidate," "Chemistry," and "Compound" for articles published between 2019 and 2024. Inclusion criteria included studies that analyzed chemical compounds as lung cancer drug candidates using molecular docking and met certain quantitative criteria. Of the initial 123 articles, 10 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed further. The results showed significant interactions between several chemical compounds and lung cancer-related protein targets such as P-glycoprotein, NEK7, EGFR, VEGFR-2, and topoisomerase II, with high binding affinity. Overall, the results of this review highlight compound 762, SIQ17, and compound 7 as lead candidates with high therapeutic potential, which deserve further development through in vitro and in vivo tests to support their application in lung cancer therapy.

Abstract

Rhodamine B is a synthetic dye used in the paper and textile industries, attracting attention due to its potential health hazards. It is used in various cosmetic products, although the Regulation of the Minister of Health of Indonesia No. 445/MENKES/PER/V/1998 prohibits its use in cosmetics due to risks of irritation, liver damage, and cancer. This article reviews the parameters of analytical methods for identifying Rhodamine B in lipstick. A narrative review was conducted using Google Scholar as a database over the past 10 years. The KLT method was found to be more widely used than HPLC or UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. Differences in Rf values in KLT are due to variations in the stationary phase. Parameter variations in HPLC system suitability tests are caused by operational conditions, sample conditions, and instrument performance. Analytical methods for identifying Rhodamine B in lipstick include KLT, HPLC/KCKT, and UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. It is concluded that each method has specific parameters that must be met: KLT is qualified if the Rf value comparison (standard vs. sample) is ≤ 0.2; HPLC/KCKT requires system suitability and validation tests; UV-Vis Spectrophotometry needs validation test parameters. KLT is preferred due to easy sample preparation and lower costs compared to HPLC and UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. It is recommended to consider necessary components when using these methods to maximize test results.
