Abstract

Community service activities are an important activity in the Higher Education Tridarma which must be carried out for independent and professional community empowerment from community powerlessness which is a global problem today. Pelita Mas Palu College of Pharmacy has a family medicinal plant garden in the area of ​​Maku Village, Dolo District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi. For this reason, as a source of family medicinal plants in the area, so they were chosen for community service activities. This activity aims to provide knowledge to the people of Maku village about making organic masks from the basic ingredients of a combination of rice and rica leaf ingredients which function as antioxidants in regenerating skin cells. The expected outputs from this activity are cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit in the products produced, providing counseling, establishing a family medicinal plant garden, providing free medical check-ups for the people of Maku village and providing free groceries. The method used in this activity was forming hamlet groups according to the order of hamlets in Maku village, delivering material to be delivered, where 30% of participants did not understand organic mask making, delivering material for 1 hour followed by planting TOGA, free health checks and free groceries. The results of the activity show that the people in Maku village are able to understand educational materials for making organic masks with an understanding level of 70%

Abstract

The use of traditional medicine in Indonesia is also related to the many types of plants in this country, understanding of traditional medicine is still very lacking so it is necessary to provide education about traditional medicine. The aim of carrying out this service is to provide understanding and skills to the people of Sejahtera Village about the use of traditional medicine to increase body immunity. This activity was attended by 40 people. The result of this activity was increased knowledge about the processing, types and use of traditional medicines. Counseling is provided using an interactive lecture method through distribution of leaflets, traditional medicine books and social service. The effectiveness of the extension was tested by administering a questionnaire on community satisfaction with the activities carried out. The results of service activities have provided increased knowledge and skills of the community regarding how to use traditional plants for body immunity.

Abstract

Indonesia has 143 million hectares of tropical forest which grows 80% of the world's medicinal plants. It is estimated that 25 thousand to 30 thousand plants can be used as medicine. One of these plants is red gedi or Abelmoschus manihot. Apart from having a delicious taste, red gedi leaves also contain many polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins, vitamin A, iron, fiber, folic acid, petroleum, methanol, collagen, vitamin C and several other nutrients which can be useful as a medicine for dyslipedemia. This activity aims to educate the community in Sejahtera Village, Palolo District, Sigi Regency about the use of red gedi as a medicine for dyslipidemia. This service uses lecture methods and distributing brochures. Presentation of the level of public understanding of the benefits of red gedi is 96%, public understanding of dyslipidemia is 95%, and people's skills in processing red gedi into food and drinks that are good for health are 100%.
