Abstract

This research was conducted on field study of sociolinguistics in ELT by focusing an analysis of regional dialect usage toward students’ speaking ability. Data source from students’ regional dialect usage on an analysis toward students’ speaking ability namely to know about the regional dialect of students’ itself. The aim of this research was obtained the data of research by finding out the process of research and described an analysis of regional dialect toward students’ speaking ability. Meanwhile, the methodology of this research was case study. The researcher collected the technique data by using some instruments such as observation, recording and documentation. The use of technique analysis was using analysis interactive. The sampling of this research was the students in class four at Mega Utama Tunas Bangsa Islamic studies primary school. The process of study research was analyzed by the students and also gave the study guidance that students were to do the instruction given by the researcher, in order to know students’ speaking ability. The result of the research, there were two dialects in the Java language of Banten that were found by the researcher and the cause of students’ regional dialect was that students were more comfortable because the language they speak was the mother tongue. Meanwhile, the conclusion was students should be guided in fun or easy learning of speaking ability in both Indonesia or English lessons so that they became people who are not easily switched to other language cultures and Indonesian culture must be preserved.

Abstract

This research is aimed to analyze the subtitles of movie “Hotel Transylvania” in non-equivalence words and analyze the method of translation strategies on its movie. The data source of research is subtitling text of the movie “Hotel Transylvania” in source language into target language, for the result subject that data analyzing on subtitle of the movie “Hotel Transylvania. The research methodology is descriptive qualitative: researcher collects data techniques by using some data collecting, and it is written on data transcriptions. The main result of this research, as follows: 1) in the data of non-equivalence words that there are some words identified as categorizes in the comments where the first categorization which the words are missed in the subtitling and it gotten in 0,32%, meanwhile, in the second categorization that there are words added in the subtitling with gotten 0,16%, and the third categorization is incorrect meaning where the meaning has inappropriate meaning and it gotten 0,51%.2)in data analyzing on movie subtitle “Hotel Transylvania” where the target language that classified into some of method and it can be described: word for word is gotten 7,60%, literal is gotten 37,01%, faithful is gotten 20,60%, semantic is gotten )0,18%, adaptation is gotten 0,80%, free is gotten 10,20%, idiomatic is gotten 10,60%, and communicative is gotten 10,01%. The conclusions of this research are some non-equivalence words that are identified on movie subtitling and data translation strategies are found in its subtitling, while the most common use of Newmark’s translation method is literal translation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reading difficulties experienced by students with dyslexia and to identify the efforts made by teachers to overcome these challenges in Grade II at SD Negeri Ciceri Indah. The background of this research is based on findings that some students with dyslexic symptoms show significant obstacles in recognizing letters, sequencing letters in words, distinguishing similar letters, and maintaining reading consistency across lines. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and parents, as well as documentation. The results indicate that the reading difficulties experienced by students include: (1) errors in letter recognition such as reading “b” as “d” or “m” as “w”; (2) difficulties in sequencing letters within words; (3) inconsistency in reading; and (4) low comprehension of reading content. The efforts made by teachers to address these difficulties include individual approaches, the use of visual.
