Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the history and dynamics of Islamic educational institutions in the archipelago, namely surau, pesantren, and madrasah. In the process of education, educational institutions play a very important role as they function as places of learning. The existence of educational institutions facilitates the process of acquiring knowledge. The Islamic educational institutions in the archipelago include surau, pesantren, and madrasah. Surau and pesantren are classical Islamic educational institutions and are also referred to as authentic (indigenous) Islamic educational institutions. The reason surau and pesantren are considered authentic educational institutions is that they originated from the community and their models were not influenced by external models, but instead, they are characteristic of the archipelago. This research uses the library research method, where the sources of this study are books and previous articles related to Islamic educational institutions in the archipelago. The findings of this study show that the arrival of Islam in the archipelago cannot be separated from the influence of education. The beginnings of Islamic education started when Islam entered the archipelago in a simple form. Education became a top priority for the Muslim community in the archipelago since that time, marking the beginning of the development of Islam.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the implementation of learning the art of reading the Al-Quran and its impact on the ability to read the Al-Quran among Koran teachers in Padang City. The method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and analysis of documents related to the learning program. The findings show that the application of reading arts techniques, such as the use of appropriate tajwid, correct makhraj, and attractive intonation, significantly improves the teachers' Al-Quran reading skills. Apart from that, this learning also increases teacher confidence and motivation in teaching, and strengthens the relationship between teachers and students. This research concludes that the integration of arts in Al-Quran learning is an effective strategy for improving the quality of reading and teaching among Koran teachers.

Abstract

This training aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Hand Movement method in teaching reading and writing of the Qur'an (BTQ) at the Al Ikhlas Qur'an Education Park (TPQ) in Padang Pariaman. The Hand Movement method, which integrates Hand Movement with the teaching of letters and tajwid, is expected to enhance the reading and writing skills of children in the TPQ. This training employs the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, a process aimed at scientifically studying issues to guide, improve, and evaluate. The PAR method is useful for addressing problems and fulfilling the practical needs of the community, as well as for the production of knowledge and social-religious change (Afandi, 2022). Data were collected through tests of reading and writing ability of the Qur'an and observations of the method's implementation. The results of the assistance indicate that the use of the Hand Movement method significantly improves the reading and writing skills of the students. Additionally, this method has also proven to enhance student motivation and engagement in the learning process. These findings contribute positively to the development of BTQ teaching methods at TPQ and can be applied in similar educational institutions to improve the effectiveness of Qur'an teaching.
