Abstract

This quantitative correlation study investigates the relationship between religiosity (independent variable) and psychological well-being (dependent variable) among 243 security guards at a private security firm. Employing a simple random sampling technique, data was collected using standardized scales measuring religiosity and psychological well-being. The analysis yielded a correlation coefficient (rxy) of 0.073 with a significance value (p) of 0.208 (> 0.05), indicating a non-significant relationship between religiosity and psychological well-being in this specific occupational group. These findings offer valuable insights into the complex interplay between religiosity and psychological well-being among security guards, shedding light on potential avenues for further research and interventions aimed at enhancing the well-being of this workforce. Highlights: Limited Correlation: The study reveals a minimal and non-significant correlation (rxy = 0.073) between religiosity and psychological well-being among security guards. Occupational Context: It focuses on the specific occupational context of security guards, shedding light on their unique well-being challenges. Research Implications: The findings provide a basis for further research and interventions to improve the well-being of security personnel. Abstract

Background: Death anxiety is a psychological challenge frequently experienced by the elderly, often associated with feelings of helplessness and fear. Specific Background: Religiosity and social support are considered key protective factors that may reduce such anxiety. Knowledge Gap: Few studies have analyzed the combined role of religiosity and social support on death anxiety in elderly populations living in communal facilities. Aim: This study aims to examine the simultaneous and partial roles of religiosity and social support in reducing death anxiety among the elderly. Results: Multiple regression analysis on 100 respondents showed that religiosity and social support jointly explained 27.2% of the variance in death anxiety. Social support contributed the largest effective portion (14.8%), followed by religiosity (12.3%). Novelty: The study highlights the significance of combining religious engagement with social support interventions to address psychological distress in elderly groups. Implications: The findings suggest the need for integrated spiritual and social programs to promote emotional well-being and prepare the elderly for end-of-life acceptance. Highlights : Religiosity and social support reduce death anxiety Social support contributes more than religiosity Practical implications for elderly care programs Keyword: Religiosity, Social Support, Death Anxiety, Elderly, Psychology

Background: The bystander effect describes individuals’ reluctance to intervene in social emergencies. Specific Background: In university settings, self-awareness may play a crucial role in determining whether students act or remain passive. Gap: Previous studies have largely examined bystander behavior without considering internal self-regulation factors. Aim: This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-awareness and the bystander effect among university students. Results: The findings indicate a significant negative correlation, meaning that higher self-awareness levels correspond to lower bystander tendencies. Novelty: This study highlights the importance of self-awareness as a psychological factor influencing prosocial actions in educational contexts. Implications: The results can inform character education and social responsibility programs in higher education to reduce social apathy among students. Highlights:• The study connects self-awareness to bystander behavior• Findings support the role of self-regulation in prosocial acts• Provides evidence from university students in Indonesia Keywords: Bystander Effect, Self-Awareness, Prosocial Behavior, Higher Education, Psychology
