Abstract

The digital generation has had a significant impact on various aspects of life, including education. Elementary school students, as a generation that is in the stage of cognitive and social development, are vulnerable to the negative impact of using digital media without supervision, one of which is the decline in manners. This study aims to analyse the factors that influence elementary school students' manners in the digital era and the efforts made by teachers in instilling these values. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The results showed that digital media poses a big challenge to students' character building, especially good manners. However, character-based programmes such as the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), the implementation of the 5S culture (smile, greeting, greeting, politeness, courtesy), and collaboration between schools and parents can have a positive influence in instilling the values of courtesy. The role of the teacher as the main role model in shaping student character is crucial. In addition, continuous evaluation of programme implementation is needed to ensure the success of character building. With a good synergy between schools, parents and students, the value of good manners can be maintained and strengthened despite the digital era.

Abstract

The low level of cultural literacy among students is a challenge for all parties, both the government and the school environment, to increase the sense of nationalism. Because cultural literacy will increase the feeling of love for the country and form a young generation that will continue to preserve the cultures that exist in Indonesia. Therefore, promoting cultural literacy among students requires various supports, both from the government, parents, teachers and other elements. This research uses literature review and bibliometric methods from various previous studies to obtain a theoretical basis that is able to solve the problem being researched. This research aims to describe efforts and strategies in implementing cultural literacy in schools by having three implementation programs through extracurricular activities, learning models methods and teacher empowerment. With the efforts implemented, it is hoped that cultural literacy, which is an attitude of national identity, can continue to stick with them.

Abstract

The development of digital literacy in primary schools has not progressed in line with the increasing availability of digital devices. This study analyzes the implementation of digital libraries in supporting digital literacy learning in a public primary school in Purwakarta Regency. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the study involved 25 participants consisting of one principal (4%), four teachers (16%), and 20 students from grades four and five (80%). Data were obtained through observation, semi structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that digital libraries expand students’access to information and enhance independence in searching for digital content, where 70% of students demonstrate high information-seeking autonomy. Teachers’ utilization of digital libraries is categorized as moderate (50%), while access to digital devices remains uneven, with only 35% of students in the high-access category. The use of digital libraries also strengthens students’ critical and reflective skills, although implementation is constrained by limited facilities, low teacher proficiency in managing digital shelves, and restrictive school policies particularly the ban on mobile phone use. Overall, digital librariesfunction as collaborative learning spaces that support the development of 21st-century competencies when supported by adequate infrastructure and flexible school regulations.

Abstract

This study was driven by the limited availability of basic literacy teaching materials that integrate local cultural values for students in Phase A of elementary school. The research aims to develop and validate the interactive multimedia “Si Leungli” as a digital medium to strengthen basic literacy through West Javanese folklore. Using the Design and Development (D&D) approach with the PPE (Planning, Production, Evaluation) model, the study ensured a systematic and iterative process. In the planning stage, learning objectives were formulated according to the Merdeka Curriculum’s Phase A outcomes, focusing on early reading, basic writing, and text comprehension within a cultural context. The production stage produced an interactive audio-visual flipbook that includes folklore stories, engaging illustrations, and literacy activities such as reading, word guessing, writing, and coloring. In the evaluation stage, three categories of experts subject matter, learning, and media validated the product using a Likert-scale instrument, yielding a 94.8% feasibility score (excellent category). The results indicate that integrating folklore into interactive media enhances engagement, reading interest, and moral values like empathy, cooperation, and responsibility. The study contributes to culture-based emergent literacy theory and offers contextual, character-building learning innovations for early-grade teachers. In practice, this innovation can support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 4 on Quality Education by promoting inclusive, equitable, and responsive early literacy learning.
