Abstract

Abstract As an Islamic educational institution, pesantren have a strategic role in creating a child- and women-friendly environment. This research captures the efforts of Pesantren Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang and Muhammadiyah Boarding School Yogyakarta (PPMBS) in realizing child- and women-friendly pesantren. Using a descriptive-qualitative method, this study reveals three main findings. First, these two pesantren develop an integrated Islamic values-based model with preventive, educative, and curative approaches. Pesantren Bahrul Ulum focuses on internal synergy through continuous training and integrative activities, while PPMBS utilizes technology such as CCTV as well as external cooperation with counseling institutions and community organizations. Second, the optimization of internal resources in both pesantren includes ongoing training for educators, campaigns on empathy values, and seminars to raise awareness of the importance of an inclusive pesantren environment. Utilization of external resources is carried out through collaboration with the government, community, and related institutions to create a safe and friendly environment for women and children. Third, the internal challenges faced include the lack of awareness of some santri on the importance of child- and women-friendly values, as well as the negative influence of social media and the environment outside the pesantren. Solutions in both pesantren involve educational approaches, strengthening communication, and cooperation with external parties. This research shows that an Islamic value-based approach, integration of local culture, and external cooperation can be an effective model in creating child- and women-friendly pesantren in the contemporary era. Abstract

The use of gold and silver in cutlery and containers has become a symbol of social status and wealth in various societies, including in Roman times, Europe, America and the Archipelago. This research is a type of library research, which involves reading, studying and analyzing various relevant literature. keeping containers of gold and silver is haram, and can be understood as a step taken to avoid the potential for excessive use, waste of property, or even the impression of arrogance that can arise from the use of these luxury items. However, al Imrani argued that there was no prohibition against keeping containers or cutlery made of gold. According to him, keeping valuable cutlery, such as those made of gold and silver, is permitted because it has economic value which can assist in the development of one's wealth. In the Ushul Fiqh Science Discipline, the prohibition of the use of storing containers made of gold and silver is carried out using the sadd al-żari'ah approach, namely deciding the path of damage. Imam Ibn al-Qasim outlines his views on the use of vessels involving gold or silver coating. According to him, if a vessel contains a layer of gold or silver and if the vessel is placed at a high temperature so that the gold or silver coating melts or disappears, then the use of such a vessel is considered haram.

Abstract

Amidst the current wave of modernization, challenges arise in preserving the traditional values that form the foundation of pesantren (Islamic boarding school) education. This study aims to examine how symbolic interactions between students and caregivers at the Pesantren Darullughah Wadda’wah (Dalwa) in Pasuruan contribute to the formation of the students' character and identity. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods, data were obtained through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that symbolic interactions manifested through symbols such as the call "Abuya," gestures of respect, and daily rituals shape the social world of students based on five main values: sincerity, honesty, devotion, togetherness, and wisdom. These values are reproduced consistently through daily practices and become pillars of character education based on Islamic values. This study contributes to the development of the sociology of Islamic education through symbolic interactionism between students and caregivers in pesantrens, while also emphasizing the relevance of pesantrens as educational institutions that are adaptive but still rooted in tradition and the meaningfulness of education.
