Abstract

This study aims to analyze the aspects of deconstruction in the Ma'na Cum Maghza method developed by Sahiron Syamsuddin and the Linguistic Hermeneutics introduced by Arkoun. It identifies the extent to which these two methods adopt a deconstructive approach in Qur'anic interpretation, particularly in linguistic aspects, and compares the characteristics of deconstruction within them. This research employs a comparative analysis method using a library research approach, where data is collected from various relevant sources. Three main questions form the foundation of this study: (1) How are Ma'na Cum Maghza and Linguistic Hermeneutics applied in Qur'anic interpretation through a linguistic approach? (2) What makes these two methods deconstructive? (3) How do the concepts of deconstruction in these two methods compare? The findings indicate that both Ma'na Cum Maghza and Linguistic Hermeneutics contain certain methodological aspects that are deconstructive. However, this study also reveals that neither method can be fully categorized as entirely deconstructionist. Several aspects contradict the principles of deconstruction, such as the tendency of Ma'na Cum Maghza towards contextualization and the structuralist approach employed in Arkoun's Linguistic Hermeneutics. Thus, Sahiron Syamsuddin and Arkoun are not radical proponents of deconstructive reading in their interpretative methods. The theoretical implication of this research is that it provides a conceptual mapping of the application of deconstruction in contemporary Qur'anic studies and clarifies the boundaries between interpretative methods that are truly deconstructive and those that only adopt certain deconstructive principles. Contribution: This study contributes to the development of Qur'anic interpretation and hermeneutics by offering a more critical perspective on linguistically-based interpretative methods in Islam.

Abstract

Islamic banking is a financial system that is based on Islamic law (Sharia) and is influenced by Islamic economics. The Islamic financial system is supported by four primary pillars: the Islamic banking system, the Islamic money market, Islamic insurance (takaful), and the Islamic capital market. These systems provide alternative funding sources. Conversely, social banks are established to utilize financial services to generate a positive impact on society and the environment. Consequently, consumers perceive Islamic banks, depositors, and the broader community as having both economic and social responsibilities. The fundamental principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are eradicating poverty and promoting sustainable development. The parallels between Islamic and social institutions will be the focus of this investigation. The significance of the two institutions in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be underscored in this research.

Abstract

This research discusses the influence of the Sufi interpretation of the Qur'an in shaping cultural narratives and political discourses in Muslim society. This study addresses the under-explored influence of Sufism beyond its spiritual domain, specifically in cultural and political spheres. This study aims to fill this void by exploring how the Sufi interpretation of the Qur'an influences contemporary cultural identity and political dynamics. The methods used in this study are multidisciplinary approaches, including analysis of Sufi literature, art, and social practices. The study's findings suggest that Sufism has a significant role in shaping cultural narratives, promoting tolerance and social justice, and providing a framework of thought that influences political discourse in Muslim communities. This study recommends that future studies focus more on Sufism's contribution to Islamic political thought and its relevance in the modern context. This research also emphasizes the importance of considering the spiritual dimension in analyzing cultural and political phenomena to understand the role of religion in shaping the social and political landscape more comprehensively.

Karanganyar, District. Paiton, Kab. Probolinggo. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis techniques are used by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions and verification. The research results show that several foster carer strategies that can be applied in overcoming bullying against students include: Interpersonal Communication, Modeling, and seminars. Having a foster care strategy implemented can help reduce students from doing as they please which can lead to bullying behavior, and can help Islamic boarding schools, especially the Az-Zainiyah region, to be environmentally friendly and caring. Abstract

Purpose - The practice of family waqf is basically in accordance with sharia and has a legal basis in fiqh. However, its existence is debated because it is considered less productive and its allocation is limited to the family of the waqif, so in various Muslim countries this waqf practice has been abolished. This study aims to determine the relevance and flexibility of Ibn Qudamah's thoughts on waqf towards the transfer of family waqf into productive waqf intended for the general public. This study is framed in contemporary Islamic family law studies that emphasize the social role of the family in society. Methods - This research is a descriptive qualitative library research. Primary data is taken from the book “Al-Mughni” by Ibn Qudamah and supplemented by secondary data in the form of books, journal articles, proceedings articles, theses, theses, and other literature related to the transfer of waqf. The data was collected using the documentation method and analyzed using content analysis techniques. Findings - Based on Ibn Qudamah's thinking, the transfer of the function of family waqf assets is possible if there is no shar'i impediment. Switching the function of family waqf into productive waqf intended for the general public must be done through deliberation between the nadzir, waqif, and also family members. In the perspective of contemporary Islamic family law, the transfer of family waqf functions is one of the efforts to strengthen the social role of the family in the community. This is one of the indicators of a maslahat family and is in accordance with the principle of hifz al-maal (protecting property). Research limitations - This research is limited to normative studies that relate Ibn Qudamah's thoughts with waqf practices in Indonesian society. Given this limitation, future research is expected to continue the findings in this study by using an empirical approach that integrates with other sciences. Originality - This research is expected to be a normative and practical reference to the practice of family waqf function transfer in Indonesia. This is because not many studies have examined this issue, especially from the perspective of contemporary Islamic family law.

Abstract

Amidst the current wave of modernization, challenges arise in preserving the traditional values that form the foundation of pesantren (Islamic boarding school) education. This study aims to examine how symbolic interactions between students and caregivers at the Pesantren Darullughah Wadda’wah (Dalwa) in Pasuruan contribute to the formation of the students' character and identity. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods, data were obtained through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that symbolic interactions manifested through symbols such as the call "Abuya," gestures of respect, and daily rituals shape the social world of students based on five main values: sincerity, honesty, devotion, togetherness, and wisdom. These values are reproduced consistently through daily practices and become pillars of character education based on Islamic values. This study contributes to the development of the sociology of Islamic education through symbolic interactionism between students and caregivers in pesantrens, while also emphasizing the relevance of pesantrens as educational institutions that are adaptive but still rooted in tradition and the meaningfulness of education.

Abstract

This article examines Muhammad Abduh's role in utilizing Sufism to build spiritual consciousness amid significant social changes in Egypt in the late 19th century. The main issue discussed was how Abduh combined the teachings of Sufism with social reform in the context of modernity, which is increasingly developing due to the influence of European colonialism and modernization pioneered by Muhammad Ali Pasha. This study explores how Abduh positioned Sufism as a moral tool supporting social reform. The method used is text analysis of Abduh's works and relevant secondary literature studies. The main findings show that Abduh has successfully integrated the spiritual dimension of Sufism with the demands of modernity, making Sufism a pillar to strengthen public morality and support harmonious social change. This article strongly recommends that further studies be conducted to understand how Abduh's approach to Sufism can be applied in contemporary social contexts that face similar challenges, as this could provide valuable insights for addressing current societal issues.
