Abstract

Setelah perang dingin, Amerika Serikat merupakan satu-satunya negara superpower yang masih dianggap memegang kekuasaan hegemonic stability hingga saat ini meski dengan kemajuan negara-negara di dunia. Namun, globalisasi membuat status Amerika Serikat sebagai negara dengan predikat yang memegang hegemonic stability menjadi terancam akibat globalisasi yang mana negara-negara di berbagai kawasan turut mengejar kemajuan Amerika Serikat, terutama Tiongkok. Hal ini membuat Amerika Serikat merasa terancam akan kekuasaannya dalam jalannya sistem international di dunia. Terlebih belakangan Tiongkok semakin berani hingga melakukan klaim terhadap kasus laut China Selatan. AUKUS menjadi salah satu strategi Amerika Serikat dalam menghadapi klaim China dalam konflik laut cina selatan. Dalam hal ini diketahui belakangan Singapura menawarkan kepada Australia untuk menjadi Pelabuhan bagi kapal selam bertenaga nuklir AUKUS ini. Hal ini menyebabkan security dilemma bagi kawasan ASEAN.

Abstract

Smallholder oil palm farming is the main livelihood in Batanghari District, although its productivity has not shown maximum results. Maximum productivity achieved, it is necessary for farmers to do their business efficiently. This study aims to analyze technical efficiency and socio-economic factors that affect the technical efficiency of smallholder oil palm farming in Batanghari District. The research sample was determined using the multistage sampling method, which was used to sample farmers using simple random sampling. The number of respondents was 100 farmers. The stochastic frontier production function was used for data analysis. The results showed that the average technical efficiency of oil palm farming was 0,89 and had reached efficiency. However, this level can still be increased by 0,11 to achieve the highest level of technical efficiency. The technical efficiency of farming is affected by socio-economic factors, namely farming experience, distance from home to the farm, and the existence of partnerships. Based on the study's results, the technical efficiency of oil palm cultivation can be improved by utilizing production parameters precisely and accurately and increasing farmers' resources to achieve maximum production. For sustainable agricultural development, further research is needed to analyze the economic efficiency of oil palm farming so that the overall picture of both technical and economic efficiency can be seen.

Abstract

The analytical method used in this research is descriptive analysis to see the first objective. Meanwhile, to see the second objective, inferential analysis was used. R2 test, F test and T test. Furthermore, to see the third objective, the Cobb - Douglas Production Function equation was used with Frontier regression approach. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. Farmers operate oil palm farming with an average production of 36,520 Kg/Year or productivity of 12,233 Kg/Ha/Year, land area of ​​2.94 Ha, number of trees 119 Trees /Ha with an equilateral triangle cropping pattern, labor 38.94 HKO/Ha, fertilizer 225.55 Kg/Ha, pesticide 2.72 Liter/Ha and seeds using tenera and dura seeds. 2. The use of land production factors, number of trees, labor, fertilizers, pesticides and seeds simultaneously significantly affects the production of oil palm with an Adjust R-Squared value of 0.96. Partially for the land production factor, the number of trees, labor, fertilizers, and pesticides have a significant effect on production, while the seed factor has no significant effect on production. 3. The level of technical efficiency of oil palm farmers in the research area obtained a minimum value of 0.70 and a maximum value of 0.99 with an average of 0.88 < 1, which means that the level of technical efficiency has not been achieved. Therefore, oil palm farming in Kumpeh Ulu District is not technically efficient.
