Abstract

The partnership between Gapoktan Rukun Tani and vegetable farmers in Bogor was designed to facilitate farmers in overcoming  the limitations of production inputs, capital, and market certainty. This study compares a one year production and income of vegetables farmers who participate in the partnership to the non participated vegetables farmers in Bogor. Income analysis and R/C ratio analysis show that the partnership has no influence in increasing the farm production and income. In term of average production, income and R/C ratio, the partnership farmer was lower than that of non partnership farmer (0,96%, 0,97%, and 1,03 lower consecutively). However, the partnership farming increases the bargaining power of farmers by getting higher price and market certainty. Another advantage of paticipating in the partnership is higher access to both capital credit and production input.

Abstract

National rice production Enhancement Programme (P2BN) is one of Indonesia government effort to fulfill the need of national rice due to high consumption level of rice ( 102 kg. per capita per year ). On 2008 the program was implemented in a field school for integrated plant management (SLPTT). SLPTT was designed to increase farming productivity and its income usahatani and improve the farmers’ welfare. The study aimed to describe the implementation of integrated plant management technology (PTT Technology) and analyzing its effect to the paddy farming productivity and income of 40 paddy farmers (20 PTT farmers and 20 non-PTT farmers that was purposively choosen) in Sukaratu, Gekbrong, Cianjur. The result showed that the PTT technology implementation level in Sukaratu is still low, more than 50% of the farmers were applied only 4 out of 6 components of basic PTT technology and 2 out of 7 components of PTT technology. However, it was proved that the PTT technology improved the productivity, revenue, and the efficiency of paddy farming. The productivity of a SLPTT paddy farming (6 tonnes/ha) is higher than that of non-SLPTT paddy farming (5.13 tons/ha). The income of SLPTT paddy farming (Rp 9.382.641/ha) is larger than that of non-SLPTT farmer. Base on RC ratio, the SLPTT farmers (R/C 1.87) are more efficient than non-SLPTT farmer (R/C 1.66).

Mitra Tani Farm is one of the solution for the farmer, though not all of the farmers in the village participate in the partnership. This study aims to analyse the implementation of the partnership, to describe the farming performance with descriptive analysis, and to comparethe male sheep fatteningprofitof farmers who have a partnership with Mitra Tani Farm to that ofthose who do not. The results show that the non-partnership farmer obtainesthe highest ratio of profit to cash cost per SDD per period. On the other hand, in all scale, the ratio of profit to total cost per SDD per period is negative, which can be concluded that the fattening business is disadvantaging. Abstract

It is assumed that government policy to protect farmer’s income by maintaining a high grain price that leads to a high production cost of  rice milling combine with a policy that keeping the rice at relatively low price to protect consumer, causes a low profit of rice milling business. To prove it, multiple case study was conducted to portray the performance of rice milling business by identifying and analyzing the cost and revenue structure of rice milling business. In this study, three types (maklon, non maklon, and combination of both) of rice milling business were selected. The biggest cost of rice milling business is the cost of purchasing grain, while the main revenue derived from rice. The rice milling business can still tolerate a 9.81 persent increase of the grain price. It is equal to the maximum price of grain Rp 4281,93 per kg GKP. While the decline in the price of rice that can still be tolerated is of 10.34 percent that’s referred to a minimum price of rice Rp 8120.00 per kg. The largest proportion of the rice milling business profit is not derived from rice as main product but from the by product such as rice bran, rice husk, broken rice, and groats. Type of businees, price of inputs and outputs, and by-product management would be the key variables that determine the business performance. These variables should be more studied in the future research.

Abstract

The development of rice agribusiness in Indonesia has a strategic position from the economic, social and political aspect. The availability of rice with an affordable price is the government concern through increasing production, productivity and quality. The development of aromatic rice of Pandan Wangi varieties has a big propect in filling the premium rice segment. The pandan wangi varieties is an indigenous varieties of Cianjur but is less favorable to farmers. This is caused by pandan wangi farming, using certified or non certified seed, is alocatively and economically inefficient, despite technically efficient. High Input price, especially seed, can not be supported by low output price. The government is needed to guarantee the availability of certified seed with lower price and controlled the price of unhulled rice and pandan wangi rice.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact ofmacroeconomic variables changes i.e exchange rate, inflation and the Bank Indonesia (BI) rateto value of LC, with study case in one of Bank in Indonesia. This study also analyze the differences in impact of the commodity on export import by using LC between agricultural and non-agricultural products. The data is analyzed by using Error Correction Model (ECM) to investigate the long run and short run relationship between macroeconomic variables and value of LC over the period of 2013–2016. The result show that the long run relationship between macroeconomic variables changes and value of LC is significant. Over all, the result show that allof the macroeconomic in this study was significantly influence the value of LC export, whereas the value of LC import was not influence by inflation variable. Differences of the commodity on export import by using LC also showing the different impact to the value of LC especially for inflation variable. The value of LC export and import of agricultural products was not influence by inflation variable. The recommendation for the bank to optimize the LC transaction is when domestic currency have depreciation, then the bank can increasethe LC transaction on export side either on agricultural or non-agricultural products. And then for BI rate factor, the bank should be wary of increase of the BI Rate because it can be impact to decrease the LC transaction.

Abstract

Transaction costs was one of imperfect market characteristic. The transaction costs of soybean farming affected profit level, and profit was one factor of capital formation. This research aimed to analyze the structure and the effect of transaction costs on the profitability and the capital formation of soybean farming. This study applied transaction cost analysis and simultaneous equation as the methods. The respondents were determined using simple random sampling by taking the proportion of 25% for the three selected districts, resulting in 120 respondents. The data were the transaction costs in 2014/2015 and household data from 2012 to 2014, comprising the assets of land, vehicles, farm equipment, crop, and livestock. The results revealed that the transaction costs were IDR 144,120.86. The negotiation costs became the highest cost component (60.30%), followed by information costs (14.07%), coordination costs (12.22%), implementation costs (8.03%), monitoring costs (4.23%) and risk costs (1.15%). Transaction costs had a significant effect on the profitability of soybean farming. The highest percentage of capital formation on soybean farming was for farmland, reaching 40.43%. Other capitals included vehicles (24.59%), plants (19.31%), building (7.37%), and supporting tools (3.09%). Transaction costs did not significantly effect on farming capital formation.
