Abstract

Based on an preliminary survey conducted at PT Besmindo Materi Sewatama, it was found that more than half of the incidents of work accidents were caused by unsafe actions of workers in the maintenance section. The purpose of the study was to determine the factors associated with unsafe acts in maintenance workers of PT Besmindo Materi Sewatama in 2024. This research was conducted at PT Besmindo Materi Sewatama in the maintenance department from April to July 2024. This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The research sample amounted to 30 people. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The results showed that there was a relationship between knowledge and unsafe acts (P = 0.000) and there was no relationship between work supervision and unsafe acts (p = 0.123). It is recommended for supervisors to make standard operating procedures to work safely for maintenance workers.

Abstract

The promotion of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) through the safety talk program aims to convey the message of occupational health and safety in the workplace. As written in PP No. 50 of 2012 related to the implementation of SMK3, OHS communication through the safety talk program is one of the supporting components of work accident prevention efforts. The purpose of this study is to observe the implementation of safety talk on safety behavior in the Kerinci Merangin Hidro hydropower development project. The research was conducted qualitatively at PT Kerinci Merangin Hidro Batang Merangin, Kerinci Regency, in February-June 2023, using 7 research informants consisting of 1 HSE person, 1 HSE officer, and 5 workers. Data collection is carried out by interviews and observations, and processing of interview results is carried out by making data transcripts, reducing data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that safety talk activities at PT Kerinci Merangin Hidro have been implemented well with the implementation of safety talks carried out by a team from the HSE division directly. With a safety talk method that is easy to understand and interesting for workers. Advice for the HSE division team of PT Kerinci Merangin Hidro to always adjust the material to be delivered during the implementation of safety talk in accordance with the conditions that occur in the field.

Abstract

Maternal responsive feeding and food intake of 2-5 years old stunted childrenBackground: Inadequate food intake is one of the stunting determinants in children. Responsive feeding is related to children's food intake. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relation between maternal responsive feeding and food intake of stunting children aged 2-5 years. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study with 92 mothers who had stunted children aged 2-5 years were participated. Responsive feeding was measured by a validated RFPAT questionnaire, and food intake was measured by 2x24 hour recall. Data were analysed using Spearman correlation test (p<0.05).Results: 52.2% of mothers had bad responsive feeding practices. Most children did not meet 80% of their energy, carbohydrate, and fat needs according to the RDA standards, but the majority of children (92.5%) met more than 80% of their protein needs. There is no statistically significant relationship between maternal responsive feeding and the stunting child's food intake. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between responsive feeding of mothers and food intake of stunting children. It is necessary to conduct other more in-depth research related to the interaction of mother and child when eating, proper child feeding practices, and its relationship with children's food intake.

Abstract

Background: Sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) are beverages to which sugar is added. SSBs are low in nutritional value, and have been associated with various health risks, such as increased incidence of obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, and dental caries. Labeling on SSBs was one of potential strategies used to reduce the purchase and intake of SSB. Objective: This review aims to summarize findings from previous studies on the effect of labeling on SSBs in relation to purchasing of SSBs among adults. Methods: A literature search was conducted through Google Scholar and PubMed using these keywords (“nutrition label” OR “warning label” OR “food label” OR “health label”) AND (“sugar sweetened beverage” OR “SSB” OR “sugary drink”) AND (“behavior” OR “purchase”) AND (“adult”). Articles published in the range of 10 years (2015-2025) were included. Results: The search found 10 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criterias. The labels used in the studies were primarily text health warning labels and graphic health warning labels. Most studies reported that labels used in SSB products reduced consumers’ intention to choose SSBs. Conclusion: SSB labeling, whether in text or image form, has the potential to reduce consumers’ purchasing intentions of sugar-sweetened beverages.

Abstract

Adolescents represent a population highly vulnerable to psychological and nutritional challenges. Global reports indicated that more adolescents experience mental health problems and national surveys showing rising concerns related to stress, body image, and unhealthy dietary habits. Academic pressure, peer dynamics, and widespread exposure to idealized body standards on social media further contribute to negative body image, increased stress levels, and poor eating behaviors. This community service program aimed to enhance students’ knowledge and awareness regarding body image, stress, and nutritional status through a structured school-based educational intervention. The activity was conducted at SMPN 14 Pauh, Padang City, involving 53 students. A pre–post intervention design was implemented, utilizing interactive presentations, participatory discussions, and brief ice-breaking activities, followed by pre-test and post-test assessments to measure changes in knowledge. A satisfaction survey was also administered to evaluate students’ perceptions of the session. The results demonstrated a significant increase in students’ knowledge scores after the educational session (p<0.001), with the highest improvement in questions related to body image and nutritional status. More than 90% of students expressed satisfaction with the materials, delivery methods, and the program’s relevance to their daily lives. These findings indicate that a short, targeted school-based intervention can effectively improve adolescents’ literacy in nutrition and mental well-being. Strengthening continuous programs through school health units and curricular integration is recommended to ensure sustained benefits and long-term impact on adolescent health.

Abstract

Background: Stunting and anemia frequently co-occur in children under five, exacerbating undernutrition burdens in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This narrative review synthesizes evidence on the prevalence and shared risk factors of concurrent stunting and anemia in children under five. Methods: We searched three electronic databases: PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar and included studies published from January 2010 to December 2025. Search terms combined keywords related to “stunting”, “anemia”, “coexistence”, and “children under five”. Results: The coexistence of stunting and anemia affects approximately one in five children under five in LMICs with individual country estimates varied widely at 5.6–60.1%. Shared determinants included child age, small birth size, recurrent infections, inadequate dietary diversity and intake of animal‑source foods and legumes, maternal anemia, short stature, low maternal education, household poverty, open defecation, and limited access to quality health and water, sanitation and hygiene services. Conclusion: Evidence supports integrated, multi‑sectoral strategies that target maternal nutrition, infant and young child feeding, infection control, and environmental sanitation to reduce the coexistence of stunting and anemia in early childhood.
