Abstract

One of the most important aspects in the teaching and learning process is the material use. Therefore, the teachers must prepare the materials in such away that those will be interesting and not monotonous for students. The aim of this research is to develop fable reading materials based on local Banyuwangi culture for young learners at MI Nurul Karim Bangsring. This research follows the research procedure proposed by Sugiyono. The development stages covered potential and problems, designing, small group trial, and revision. The results of the research and development show that the product reaches very feasible level based on English teacher validation and students’ validation. Therefore, it can be concluded that fable reading materials based on local Banyuwangi culture can be used in teaching and learning activities in English language learning in class V at MI Nurul Karim Bangsring.

Abstract

The use of Youtube app among young learners has become a phenomenon. Obviously, watching YouTube videos is not always a bad thing. If the teachers and the parents lead them on selective topic watched like on vocabulary topics, it will have a positive impact on kids’ vocabulary mastery. This research aims to investigate whether there is any effect of English Singsing YouTube channel on the vocabulary mastery of the 2nd grade students of SDN Kepatihan. The pre experimental research design was employed with 29 respondent of 2nd grade were involved. Multiple choice test is chosen for the data collecting method that consist 20 questions of concrete nouns for the test. For the data analysis is used t-test formula. The researcher found that there is enhancement on the post-test. The mean score was 61,72 in the pre-test and 87,06 in the post-test. The result of t-test is higher than t-table (12,87 > 1,70). The researcher concluded that there is significant effect of English Singsing YouTube Channel on the Vocabulary mastery of the 2nd grade students of SDN Kepatihan Banyuwangi.

Abstract

Having clear pronouciation is very important in order to build good communication. In English language teaching, the students frequently face some challanges and thus the teacher need to monitor the progress. This study aims to describe the pronunciation proficiency of the eleventh-grade students at MA Ibrahimy Kalipuro. Descriptive quantitative was used as the design and the respondents were taken through purposive sampling technique. The sample was 26 students. The data were collected through performance test. The students’ voices during performance test were recorded and then were scored. The data were presented in a percentage. The result of this study indicated that the avarage score of voiced consonants was 72 (fair)  while voiceless consonants was 69 (poor). Thus. It can be concluded that the teaching of pronounciation still need  further research in order to improve the students’ pronounciation proficiency. The teachers should be actively incorporate various startegies and media to assist the students practice English pronunciation regularly.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to determine the teachers’perceptions on online English learning using WhatsApp. The research method used in this research is descriptive quantitative research. The respondents were 10 English teachers at Junior High Schools in Sempu Sub-District. The sampling technique used was the purposive sampling. The data was collected by using the questionnaire through Google Form and interviews. The result of this research regarding the Teachers’ Perception on Online English Learning Using Whatsapp at Junior High Schools in Sempu, Sub-District is in a good category with overall percentage 60,3%. For the results of interviews, the online English learning using WhatsApp can help them to do an online learning process easily. However, there are still some challenges that happened to online learning using WhatsApp. The monitoring carried out by the teachers on their students was not as easy as face-to-face learning activities. The researcher suggests for the English teachers to use WhatsApp as a learning media. Through WhatsApp, English teachers can deliver the materials easily and creatively.

Abstract

Typically, teachers are expected to meet the diverse needs of students in the classroom through appropriate teaching strategies. Differentiated instruction (DI) is one such approach that aims to address students' diverse readiness levels, interests and learning profiles. However, the implementation of DI can be affected by how teachers and students perceive its implementation. The objectives of this study was to describe the English teachers’ perceptions and the students’ perception on the differentiated instruction. The research method was descriptive quantitative. The researcher used a questionnaire in collecting data. The respondents of this research were three English teachers and seventeen eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Banyuwangi. The researcher analyzed the data of questionnaires by using statistical analysis with this formula: P = n/N x 100%. The results of the study showed that the English teachers had a positive perception on the differentiated instruction. The result was 77,8%. The students also perceived differentiated instruction positively. It was 74,5%. Content and process differentiation received favorable ratings from both teachers and students. The findings suggest that differentiated instruction effectively supports student engagement and personalized learning. Future studies are recommended to include qualitative data to gain deeper insight into the students’ enggament and other factors affecting the teaching and learning process.
