Abstract

This study analyses the potential and challenges in the development of halal tourism in Indonesia, which is becoming one of the fastest growing tourism destinations due to the increasing global Muslim population and halal lifestyle awareness. As a country with the largest Muslim population, Indonesia has various potentials in terms of culture, nature, and strong Islamic history. The government has been supporting this sector through policies and regulations, such as the Halal Product Guarantee Law, as well as the development of flagship halal tourism destinations. However, several challenges remain, including standardisation of halal services, coordination among stakeholders, and competition from other countries such as Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. Utilisation of digital technology and strengthening human resources are also important factors in Indonesia's efforts to strengthen its position as a global halal tourism destination. This research emphasises the need to apply sustainability principles in the development of halal tourism to maintain long-term benefits for local communities and the environment.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) policy on the sustainability of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the research delves into the experiences, perspectives, and challenges faced by SMEs in the context of increased market competition and trade integration. The findings indicate that ACFTA presents both opportunities and challenges for Indonesian SMEs. On one hand, the policy enhances market access and eliminates tariffs on a majority of goods, providing SMEs with potential export opportunities to China. On the other hand, the influx of cheaper Chinese imports poses significant competitive pressures, as many domestic SMEs struggle with production scale and pricing competitiveness. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of a balanced trade relationship and substantial foreign investment flows from China, which contribute to regional economic integration. However, it also points out the risks associated with over-dependence on foreign capital. To maximize the benefits of ACFTA, the study recommends implementing supportive policies that enhance SMEs' competitiveness, capacity building, and technological adaptation. Government initiatives, including training, financial assistance, and market protection, are crucial in helping SMEs navigate the challenges posed by increased competition. Ultimately, the research underscores the potential for Indonesian SMEs to leverage economic integration for sustainable growth and contribute to national economic development.

Abstract

This research analyses the level of digital literacy in public administration in Indonesia through a systematic literature study approach. The study reviewed data from accredited journals from 2019-2024 with a focus on the relationship between digital literacy and public information disclosure. The results showed that 65.3% of users were still at a low to medium level, with significant gaps between basic operation skills (7.2/10) and advanced data analysis (3.4/10). There is a significant disparity between urban (6.8/10) and rural (4.2/10) communities in the understanding of digital information. Hypothesis testing confirmed strong relationships between digital literacy and data accessibility (r=0.783), public participation (β=0.534) and government accountability (β=0.623). Demographic analysis showed the 18-35 age group performed best (7.2/10), with a progressive decline in older age groups. Training programmes proved effective with a 72% increase in scores, despite infrastructure constraints. The study recommends the development of a standardised policy framework and continuous evaluation to address the digital divide. The implementation of AI showed a 38% increase in effectiveness, while the mobile approach improved accessibility by 65%. The findings confirm the important role of digital literacy in improving the effectiveness of public administration in Indonesia, although there are still gaps that need to be addressed through a comprehensive and sustainable approach.

Abstract

The rapid digitalization of Indonesia's financial sector has created unprecedented opportunities and challenges for Sharia-compliant institutions seeking to expand their market reach while adhering to Islamic principles. This literature review examines the current trends and challenges in digital marketing practices among Indonesian Islamic financial institutions from 2024 to 2025. Through a systematic analysis of 45 peer-reviewed articles, regulatory documents, and industry reports, this study identifies key developments in Sharia-compliant digital marketing strategies, including the adoption of artificial intelligence, social media engagement, and mobile-first approaches. The findings reveal that while Indonesian Islamic financial institutions have successfully leveraged digital platforms to enhance customer acquisition and retention, significant challenges persist in ensuring full Sharia compliance in digital advertising, managing cybersecurity risks, and addressing the digital divide among target demographics. The research identifies four primary trends: increased use of Islamic fintech partnerships, personalized halal investment recommendations through AI, community-driven social media campaigns, and blockchain-based transparent financial products. Key challenges include regulatory ambiguity regarding digital Sharia compliance, competition from conventional digital banks, limited digital literacy among traditional Islamic banking customers, and the need for specialized talent in both Islamic finance and digital marketing. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on Islamic digital finance by providing a comprehensive overview of current practices and offering strategic recommendations.
