Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to analyze the influence of popular culture on the literacy of 4th semester Islamic Library and Information Science students at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang and the role of media in spreading popular culture. The research method used is qualitative with in-depth interview techniques with a number of students as informants. The results of the study indicate that popular culture, such as music, films, lifestyle, and social media trends, have a significant influence on student literacy. Some positive impacts found include increased interest in reading, critical analysis skills, and creativity. However, there are also negative impacts such as decreased concentration in learning and addiction to social media. Media, especially digital media and social media, play an important role in spreading popular culture among students. This study recommends the need to improve digital and media literacy to equip students in facing the ever-growing popular culture. In addition, collaboration is needed between educational institutions, lecturers, and students in creating an environment that supports increased literacy.Keywords: media literacy, popular culture, Islamic Library and Information Science.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh budaya populer terhadap literasi mahasiswa Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi Islam semester 4 UIN Imam Bonjol Padang serta peran media dalam menyebarkan budaya populer tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara mendalam terhadap sejumlah mahasiswa sebagai informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa budaya populer, seperti musik, film, gaya hidup, dan tren media sosial, memiliki pengaruh yang cukup besar terhadap literasi mahasiswa. Beberapa dampak positif yang ditemukan antara lain meningkatnya minat baca, kemampuan analisis kritis, dan kreativitas. Namun, ada juga dampak negatif seperti penurunan konsentrasi belajar dan kecanduan media sosial. Media, terutama media digital dan media sosial, berperan penting dalam menyebarkan budaya populer di kalangan mahasiswa. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya peningkatan literasi digital dan media untuk membekali mahasiswa dalam menghadapi budaya populer yang terus berkembang. Selain itu, diperlukan kolaborasi antara lembaga pendidikan, dosen, dan mahasiswa dalam menciptakan lingkungan yang mendukung peningkatan literasi.Kata kunci: media literasi, budaya populer, Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi Islam.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas Model Discovery Learning (DL) berban-tuan media Scratch dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika, khususnya pada materi bangun ruang. Penelitian menggunakan metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis 15 artikel jurnal yang diperoleh dari Google Scholar. Artikel yang dipilih berkaitan de-ngan penerapan Discovery Learning dan penggunaan media Scratch dalam pembelajaran matematika. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa model Discovery Learning berbantuan media Scratch mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika peserta didik. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi model pembelajaran yang interaktif dengan media yang menarik dapat meningkatkan partisipasi aktif dan minat belajar peserta didik. Selain itu, media Scratch terbukti efektif dalam membantu peserta didik memahami konsep bangun ruang secara visual dan interaktif. Simpulan dari kajian ini adalah bahwa penerapan Model Discovery Learning berbantuan media Scratch dapat menjadi solusi inovatif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika dan menarik minat peserta didik, sehingga relevan untuk diterapkan dalam pembelajaran matematika.   Discovery learning model assisted by Scratch media on space building materials   Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning (DL) model assisted by Scratch media in improving mathematics learning outcomes, particularly on solid geometry topics. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by identifying and analyzing 15 journal articles retrieved from Google Scholar. The selected articles are related to the implementation of Discovery Learning and the use of Scratch media in mathematics learning. The findings indicate that the Discovery Learning model assisted by Scratch media can enhance students' mathematics learning outcomes. These findings demonstrate that the combination of an interactive learning model with engaging media can increase students' active participation and learning interest. Additionally, Scratch media proved effective in helping students understand solid geometry concepts visually and interactively. The conclusion of this review is that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model assisted by Scratch media can serve as an innovative solution to improve mathematics learning outcomes and attract students' interest, making it relevant for application in mathematics education.

Abstract

Advancements in technology have significantly impacted literacy instruction, particularly in improving reading comprehension. Despite the growing number of digital reading platforms, many learners, including students in educational settings, continue to struggle with deep comprehension. The READABLE app, a digital reading platform that offers simplified English stories, was developed to address these challenges. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the READABLE app in enhancing pre-service teachers' ability to support reading comprehension. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis revealed that pre-service teachers held highly positive perceptions of the READABLE app. Features such as interactivity, personalized materials, and automatic feedback were considered effective in increasing student engagement and learning outcomes. The app was also viewed as helpful for supporting students' understanding of texts by offering content tailored to their reading levels. Its engaging learning environment motivated students to read regularly, contributing to gradual and sustainable skill development. As such, the READABLE app is regarded as a valuable tool in supporting English language learning, especially for improving overall reading comprehension
