Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work flexibility, social support, and leadership on employee performance in the Bureau of Government and Regional Autonomy of the Aceh Governor's Office. The research sample consisted of 45 employees who were selected purposively. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire measured through the Likert scale, and data analysis was carried out using the multiple linear regression method to determine the influence of the three independent variables on employee performance. The results of the study show that work flexibility, social support, and leadership have a positive and significant influence on employee performance. Social support was found to have the strongest influence, with a beta coefficient of 0.38, followed by leadership at 0.31 and work flexibility at 0.25. These findings are in line with the theories of job design, social support, and transformational leadership, which emphasize the importance of flexible work policies, strong social support, and participatory leadership styles in increasing productivity. In conclusion, human resource management in government agencies needs to integrate these three factors to create a conducive work environment and encourage optimal employee performance. The implications of this research are also relevant for improving bureaucratic efficiency in the public sector.

Abstract

Palm kernel shell (PKS)-based carbon aerogel holds potential as a cathode material in lithium-ion batteries due to its porous structure and high conductivity. This study aims to determine the optimal calcination temperature to enhance the physical and thermal properties of PKS-based carbon aerogel. Calcination was performed at 400°C for 3 hours and 450°C for 2 hours to analyze the effects on morphology, thermal stability, and density of the carbon aerogel. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis revealed that calcination at 450°C produced a more porous and irregular structure, which supports optimal ion movement. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) testing showed higher thermal stability at 450°C, with a total energy of -74.54 J/g. Additionally, the density of carbon aerogel at 450°C was 0.75 g/cm³, lower than 0.83 g/cm³ at 400°C, indicating better porosity for ionic conductivity. Therefore, a calcination temperature of 450°C for 2 hours is recommended as the optimal condition to improve carbon aerogel performance for lithium-ion battery cathode applications.

Abstract

This study investigates how identity politics informs collective resistance to state authority, with a specific focus on the Polresta Deli Serdang in North Sumatra during a controversial drug raid. The objective is to understand how religious and ethnic symbols were mobilized to construct communal solidarity, trigger emotional escalation, and frame law enforcement as an external, even hostile, force. Using a qualitative case study method, the research explores how resistance emerged not as a spontaneous reaction but through deliberate symbolic narratives and the amplification power of social media. The findings show that such resistance was strategically nurtured, reflecting deeper tensions in a multicultural society. While the police employed humanistic communication strategies and sought collaboration with religious leaders, the outcomes were mixed, highlighting both the potential and the limits of symbolic engagement in crisis management. This study contributes to the broader discourse on public trust, symbolic politics, and cultural communication in security governance. It emphasizes the necessity of embedding legal enforcement practices within culturally sensitive and inclusive frameworks. The case of Deli Serdang reveals the complex intersections between identity, legitimacy, and authority in contemporary Indonesia.

Abstract

The rise of cybercrime in Indonesia has become an urgent issue, not only in terms of technical law enforcement but also in how institutions, particularly the police, communicate with the public. This study aims to examine the strategic role of the Public Relations Division (Humas) at Polresta Deli Serdang in managing internal coordination and external communication in response to digital crime. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research involved in-depth interviews with eight key informants and thematic analysis of the collected data. The findings reveal that Humas is often excluded from the early stages of operations, weakening its ability to build narratives that uphold institutional legitimacy. Externally, the public perceives the police as slow and overly formal, failing to match the speed and emotional tone of social media discourse. The study recommends a shift from one-way, bureaucratic communication to a symmetrical approach rooted in local culture, involving digital community leaders and co-created narratives. These findings contribute to strengthening police communication strategies through empathetic, transparent, and collaborative engagement to rebuild public trust.

Abstract

The security operations for the 2024 election in Deli Serdang face significant communication challenges that risk causing message distortion, potentially undermining coordination between security personnel and the public. To address this issue, this study applies the Shannon and Weaver communication model as a framework to identify factors contributing to noise in information exchange on the ground. The research focuses on how the model’s elements—such as sender, communication channels, and receiver—can interact more effectively to minimize misunderstandings. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with security personnel and document analysis. Findings reveal that employing the Shannon and Weaver model aids in identifying vulnerable points that cause noise, such as message inconsistencies and limited communication media. By improving feedback mechanisms and minimizing sources of interference, coordination in election security can be substantially enhanced. This study concludes that understanding the principles of communication models is essential to ensuring message clarity and bolstering security responsiveness during election operations.
