Abstract

Oxytocin massage is also a solution to overcome irregular breast milk production. This massage is performed along the spine to stimulate the hormones prolactin and oxytocin after giving birth. The purpose of this study was to determine the role, benefits and functions of the combination of breast care and oxytocin massage on breast milk production in postpartum mothers and to facilitate breast milk production. The research method was quasi-experimental, with a posttest-only control design. Using consecutive sampling techniques. Interventions were given from the first day to the third day postpartum, then observations were carried out. Data normality test using the Shapiro-Wilk test, data analysis using the independent t-test. The research results obtained a significance value with the average number of the combination group and the control group. The conclusion of this study is that the combination of breast care and oxytocin massage is effective in breast milk production in postpartum mothers. When massaging the spine, it can cause a neurogenic reflex that speeds up the work of the parasympathetic nerves to convey commands to the back of the brain. As a result of the stimulatory signal, the potential action process of oxytocin is released into the systemic blood from the posterior pituitary. In the bloodstream, oxytocin is delivered to the myoepithelial cells of the alveoli and uterus so that oxytocin will stimulate these cells which cause the alveolar sacs to be compressed and the ducts to shorten and widen.

Regulation of the Minister of Health concerning Community-Based Total Sanitation as stated in the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 852/SK/Menkes/IX/2008 states that hand washing with soap is the behavior of washing hands using running water and soap. Pregnant women are at high risk of infection, this is due to the body's low immune system, so pregnant women are more susceptible to disease. One way to prevent transmission is to wash your hands regularly with soap and water or a hand sanitizer containing 60% alcohol. especially after activities outside the home or in public places. The aim of this Community Service Activity (PkM) is to increase the knowledge of pregnant women and improve their ability to wash their hands effectively. The method used is socialization and health education on proper and correct hand washing methods for pregnant women. The results of Community Service (PkM) activities went well and pregnant women were very enthusiastic about participating in Community Service (PkM) activities until completion and there were also changes in increasing mothers' knowledge and ability to wash their hands effectively as part of prevention efforts. The conclusion is that the Community Service Team (PkM) hopes that health workers will always pay attention and use it as a work program so that they can reduce morbidity and mortality rates.

Abstract

The first thousand days of life are a golden period that greatly determines the optimal growth and development of children. Exclusive breastfeeding plays an important role in meeting the nutritional needs of infants and reducing morbidity and mortality rates in children. However, the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding has not yet reached the expected target. Various factors, including the level of knowledge and attitude of mothers, are thought to influence the success of exclusive breastfeeding. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence exclusive breastfeeding in infants over 6 months of age in the Pattingaloang Health Center work area, South Sulawesi. This study used a correlation analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study were 33 mothers who had infants aged 6–24 months and were selected using the total sampling technique. Data were obtained through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-square test with the help of SPSS. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the level of maternal knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.028). Mothers with good knowledge are more likely to provide exclusive breastfeeding than mothers with poor knowledge. Meanwhile, no significant relationship was found between the mother's attitude towards breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.532). In addition, age, education level, and occupation also contribute to the formation of maternal knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding. The level of maternal knowledge significantly influences the success of exclusive breastfeeding, while maternal attitudes do not show a significant relationship. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase education and counseling regarding the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, especially for mothers with low education levels or limited access to health information
