The population studied were young people aged 17-25 years in Pekanbaru City. The number of samples was determined using the Isaac and Michael method with an error rate of 10%. The research results show that all 12 statements for the variable information exposure and level of public trust are considered valid because the correlation coefficient value is greater than the table correlation value. Reliability testing shows that the two variables are considered reliable because the Cronbach's Alpha value is greater than 0.6. Normality test analysis shows that the data has a normal distribution because the Asymp value. Sig. greater than 0.05. A simple linear regression test shows a correlation between the independent variable (exposure to social media information) and the dependent variable (level of public trust in the 2024 general election), with a certain regression equation. The results of the T test show rejection of the null hypothesis and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis because the t-count value is smaller than the t-table, and the significance level is smaller than alpha. Keywords: Social Media; Public Trust; Information Exposure; 2024 Election AbstractDalam era digital saat ini, media sosial telah menjadi salah satu platform utama untuk komunikasi dan berbagi informasi. Abstract

The widespread use of social media has led several accounts to utilize these platforms as educational media for cyber sexual harassment (CSH) awareness. This research examines the relationship between motives and satisfaction of followers of CSH educational accounts in Indonesia, analyzing four prominent accounts: @media.riseup, @awaskbgo, @stop.kbgo, and @taskforce_kbgo. This study employs quantitative methods using the Expectancy-Value model introduced by Palmgreen, distinguishing between Gratification Sought (GS) and Gratification Obtained (GO). Data were collected from 100 respondents across Indonesia using proportionate stratified random sampling, with analysis conducted through Spearman Rho correlation and mean difference tests. The sample comprised predominantly female followers (68%) aged 19-25 years, with 52% having experienced cyber sexual harassment. The results demonstrate a significant positive relationship between motives and satisfaction with a correlation value of 0.720 (p < 0.05). However, the mean test reveals a negative satisfaction gap of 0.14 between expected and obtained gratifications, indicating these educational accounts have not fully met followers' expectations. These findings suggest improvements in content consistency and delivery methods are needed to enhance educational effectiveness.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI)'s emergence has revolutionized Indonesia's local and national journalistic media landscape. It brings new challenges in terms of information integrity. This research explores the opportunities and challenges local media in Indonesia face in integrating Islamic values through journalistic activities in media using AI technology. Through a qualitative approach of media content analysis, this study has analyzed the content of news broadcasts on the YouTube channels @tvoneai and @metrotvnews. A total of 124 videos were analyzed, consisting of 41 videos from @tvoneai and 83 short videos from @metrotvnews published from July 16 to July 29, 2024. Referring to the results of the analysis based on the concepts built, the researcher concludes that AI-based digital journalism activities in Indonesia have not maximally fulfilled the elements of Islamic values. It is reflected in some news reports in politics, social issues, economy, entertainment, and technology, which still lack consistency (Al-Istiqamah ), truth & accuracy (As-Shidiq), Amar ma’ruf Nahi Mungkar, justice & impartiality (Al-Musawah), humanity (Ta’awun), and reconfirmation (Tabayyun).

Abstract

This study aims to analyse how the Indonesian and Malaysian state-owned national media frame the Indonesia–Malaysia football rivalry and how this framing contributes to the construction of competitive nationalism. The object of this study is the Indonesian–Malaysian football news published by Antara News (Indonesia) and Bernama (Malaysia) from 2019 to May 2025. This study uses a qualitative method with Robert M. Entman's framing model analysis approach, which includes four elements, namely defining problems, diagnosing causes, moral judgement, and treatment recommendations. The research data consists of a corpus of online news related to football matches and conflicts between supporters related to the Indonesia-Malaysia rivalry. Data analysis was conducted through systematic coding using NVivo 14 software to identify dominant framing patterns. The results show that both media outlets predominantly emphasised the elements of defining problems and diagnosing causes, framing football rivalry as a competitive dynamic fraught with conflict. Antara News tended to diagnose the causes of conflict by highlighting the actions of the opposing party, while Bernama placed more emphasis on technical factors of the match and the emotional responses of supporters. The element of moral judgement was used to legitimise the national position of each country, as well as to provide recommendations for dealing with reactive conflicts. This study contributes to media studies, particularly framing, by highlighting comparisons between the national media of Indonesia and Malaysia in their coverage of Indonesian-Malaysian football rivalry. This study emphasises the need for balanced journalistic practices oriented towards conflict management in cross-border sports coverage and the adoption of approaches to prevent conflict escalation.

Abstract

Flexing on social media is often reduced to narcissistic and consumptive self-display, obscuring its communicative, cultural, and ethical complexity. Existing studies largely rely on psychological and consumerist perspectives, with limited attention to flexing as an ethically contingent communicative practice embedded in cultural and religious frameworks. This study addresses this gap by reconstructing flexing through the integration of media ethics, local cultural values, and Islamic moral principles. Using a qualitative Narrative Literature Review (NLR), the study synthesizes interdisciplinary literature (2021–2025) sourced from major academic databases and search engines. Analysis was conducted through conceptual extraction, thematic clustering, interpretative comparison, and integrative reconstruction. The findings identify five forms of flexing (material, prestige, aesthetic, soft, and moral), three contextual factors shaping its evaluation (digital-ethical structures, cultural values, and religious media ethics), and cross-temporal continuity in status display practices. The study proposes ethical flexing as a context-sensitive form of digital self-presentation defined by authenticity, proportionality, and social responsibility. This framework shifts the discourse from moral labeling to negotiated ethical evaluation within digitally mediated visibility systems.
