Abstract

The low ability and interest of students in writing poetry is a fundamental problem in learning Indonesian, often caused by conventional teaching methods that do not stimulate creativity. The limitations of interactive learning media that can visualize poetic ideas also exacerbate this condition. Departing from these problems, this study aims to determine and describe the effect of using learning media based on the Genially platform on improving poetry writing skills in grade IX students of SMP Negeri 27 Malang. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design which is carried out collaboratively in two cycles, where each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementing actions, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques are carried out through participatory observation to monitor student activities, documentation of work, and poetry writing performance tests at the end of each cycle to measure improvements in ability. The results of the study showed a significant increase in the average value of students' poetry writing skills from pre-cycle to cycle II. Qualitatively, the use of Genially media succeeded in creating an interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere, thereby increasing students' motivation, active participation, and courage in expressing their poetic ideas. It is concluded that Genially learning media has proven to be effective as an innovative solution to improve poetry writing skills. Abstract

Linear programming is a crucial aspect of optimization mathematics. Prospective mathematics teachers are required to be proficient in solving linear programming problems using graphical methods, the simplex method, and computational technology. However, challenges such as modeling real-world problems, computational complexity, and difficulty understanding graphical visualizations often hinder understanding the material. This study aims to describe the solution of linear programming problems based on the local wisdom of Madurese batik, incorporating AI literacy tools such as ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Grok, Wolfram Alpha, and GeoGebra AI. This study employed a qualitative, descriptive approach. The subjects consisted of 23 prospective teachers, and three representative subjects were selected. The instruments used were a contextual problem of Madurese batik and an interview questionnaire. The results were analyzed and compared with the interview results. The results show that AI helps facilitate prospective teachers in solving linear programming problems. The research findings suggest that AI has transformative potential in mathematics learning for prospective teachers. AI improves efficiency, visual comprehension, flexibility, and confidence. However, challenges such as technological barriers and potential decreases in learning intensity need to be addressed through thoughtful pedagogical design. Prospective teachers must remain meticulous in problem-solving because AI can make mistakes. Prospective teachers may feel the need for intensive learning because problems can be easily solved by AI. AI should be viewed as a tool that supports exploration and understanding, not as a complete substitute for the learning process. Mathematics learning needs to integrate AI as an aid, not a replacement for manual skills.

Abstract

Planning is one of the most important stages in designing a lesson. At this stage, learning objectives, the material to be taught, learning media, and assessments are formulated. This qualitative descriptive research involves teachers, school principals, and various parties to carry out lesson plans. The material focused on in this lesson plan is material regarding the introduction of chickens to blind students. Generally, at this planning stage, the teacher carries out global planning, such as learning materials and objectives. Then determine the learning media used, then find and make learning media and prepare everything needed during learning. In this lesson, the media used are chicks and miniature chicks. With various considerations regarding student safety, the teachers chose chicks as the media used in this lesson. Good planning makes student learning experiences more structured, directed, and effective. Teachers can better adapt learning to student needs, increase engagement and motivation, and improve learning outcomes. The conclusion from the planning stage (Plan) in special schools on introducing chickens for blind students is at the planning stage of adapting the curriculum to the needs and characteristics of blind students. The main focus when developing learning designs for students with special needs, including students who are blind. Chicken introduction materials must be designed with an innovative and accessible approach for blind students. The designed learning objectives include aspects of knowledge about chickens, understanding of their characteristics, and details of chicken components. At this planning stage, audio-based early learning activities for students were also designed, such as the sound of chickens, natural situations, waves, and so on, which can lead to the core of learning.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a crucial skill for academic and lifelong success, requiring educational strategies that actively engage students. The Discovery Learning model, rooted in constructivist theory, has been widely recognized for promoting higher-order thinking. This study investigates the effects of the Discovery Learning model and students’ self-efficacy on critical thinking skills, including the interaction between these variables. A quasi-experimental design was employed involving 60 first-semester students from the Indonesian Language Department. Participants were assigned to either an experimental group (Discovery Learning) or a control group (Problem-Based Learning). Self-efficacy levels were measured using a validated questionnaire, while critical thinking was assessed through a standardized test. Data were analyzed using two-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the Discovery Learning model significantly improved students’ critical thinking skills (F = 27.409, p 0.001). Self-efficacy also had a significant main effect on critical thinking performance (F = 46.780, p = 0.010). Additionally, a significant interaction was found between the instructional model and self-efficacy (F = 5.187, p = 0.027), indicating that the impact of Discovery Learning was stronger among students with higher self-efficacy. These findings highlight the combined importance of instructional strategies and learner beliefs. Discovery Learning not only enhances critical thinking but also synergizes with self-efficacy to optimize student performance. Educators are encouraged to implement learner-centered approaches that foster both cognitive skills and student confidence.
