Abstract

High school students often experience pressures that affect their mental health due to unstable personalities. The negative effects of poorly managed mental health can impact their development. Therefore, early education on the abuse of psychopharmaceutical drugs and its impact on adolescent mental health is essential. The specific target of this counseling activity was to enhance the understanding of students at Muhammadiyah 3 Batu High School. The method used involved delivering materials and explanations through a PowerPoint presentation and the "tree of hope" activity, making it easier for students to comprehend the content. The results of this counseling indicated an increase in student knowledge and understanding. Pre-test results showed that 95.24% of students understood the material well, 3.17% understood sufficiently, and 1.59% lacked understanding of the abuse of psychopharmaceutical drugs and its relation to mental health. After the information session (post-test), 96.83% of students demonstrated a strong understanding, and 3.17% understood sufficiently. Overall, this counseling activity has the potential to improve student understanding and engagement on the relationship between the abuse of psychopharmaceuticals and mental health.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Kesehatan Mental, Korban Kekerasan, Trauma, Psikososial  ABSTRACT Physical, psychological, and sexual violence are still of particular concern in Indonesia. Cases of violence can occur at all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults. These cases of violence can traumatize and even depress victims, which can have an impact on the continuation of the victim's life. Based on this description, it is necessary to provide mental health assistance for child victims of violence. The methods used are survivor screening using the Strengths Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) filled out by the victim's parents, providing assistance materials, and evaluation.  The service team conducted a dialog with victims of violence so that victims could open up. The results of this service show that the majority of children have difficulties in the components of emotional symptoms, behavior, and hyperactivity. However, most children still show the ability to behave prosocially, which may indicate a protective factor or adaptability in dealing with trauma. This service emphasizes the importance of appropriate and immediate intervention for children who are survivors of violence to overcome the psychological and behavioral disorders they may experience. At the evaluation stage after the provision of mentoring materials, it was seen that children who were victims of violence had enthusiasm and motivation that could support them to be able to return to normal life in their environment. Keywords: Mental Health, Victims Of Violence, Trauma, Psychosocial

Abstract

This counseling aims to increase awareness and understanding of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Batu students regarding the correct use of drugs through DAGUSIBU (Get, Use, Store, and Dispose) education. The lack of drug literacy among adolescents often leads to fatal errors, such as inappropriate use of over-the-counter drugs, wrong drug selection, dosage errors, and improper storage and disposal of drugs, which can have negative impacts on health and the environment. This activity is part of the Drug Awareness Family Movement (GKSO) program initiated by the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI). The implementation method consists of several stages: (1) pre-test to measure students' initial knowledge; (2) education session involving material presentation through presentations, group discussions, and direct demonstrations on how to store and dispose of drugs properly; and (3) post-test to assess increased understanding after the intervention. The activity was carried out on May 26, 2025 with a total of 43 participants from class XI SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Batu. The pre-test results showed that 88.37% of students were in the understanding category, 9.30% were quite understanding, and 2.33% were less understanding. After the education session, the post-test results showed a significant increase: 94.12% of students were classified as understanding, and no students were in the less understanding category. This increase shows the effectiveness of the educational approach used in increasing drug literacy among students. It is hoped that students who have gained this understanding can become agents of change in disseminating correct information about drug management to families and communities in their surroundings.
