Abstract

Hoarding of necessities frequently occurs in Indonesia, such as during the 2020–2022 Covid-19 pandemic, when personal protective equipment (PPE) and cooking oil became scarce. The primary cause is the behavior of some traders who hoard and monopolize goods, thus hampering distribution, leading to scarcity and unreasonable price increases. This study aims to examine the dangers of hoarding for the Muslim economy from an Islamic literary perspective and to find preventative solutions. This study used a qualitative method with a library research approach and descriptive analysis. The results show that the practice of hoarding has been known since the time of the Prophet Muhammad. In Islam, hoarding of goods is forbidden because it can reduce the availability of goods and increase prices unfairly. Classical and contemporary scholars agree that hoarding wealth or goods that harm others is reprehensible. However, Islam permits someone to keep wealth or goods for personal and family needs as long as it does not harm others. Ihtikar or hoarding is a form of unethical trade based on greed and solely oriented towards profit. The Quran and Sunnah emphasize that those who engage in ihtikar are committing a grave sin and will be punished in the afterlife. Therefore, the government plays a crucial role in preventing the practice of ihtikar through market supervision and optimizing the function of the Hisbah institution, which plays a vital role in maintaining economic, social, and moral justice in society.

Abstract

The low level of cash waqf mobilization in Indonesia presents a significant challenge for Islamic philanthropy, attributed to various internal and external factors. This study addresses the gap in existing literature concerning the comprehensive analysis of factors that impact the low uptake of cash waqf and the strategic management approaches necessary to address these challenges. While previous research has examined aspects of cash waqf, there remains a need for a systematic approach that integrates problem, solution, and strategy analysis through the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method. The objectives of this study are to identify the key factors affecting cash waqf mobilization and to propose detailed solutions and strategies for effective management. Utilizing the ANP framework and the Problem-Solution Model, the study collects data from a sample of 7 experts and 7 practitioners. The analysis considers four dimensions—human resources, institutional frameworks, government, and society—and is organized into three clusters: problems, solutions, and strategies, with a focus on both internal and external factors. Key findings indicate that the low mobilization of cash waqf is primarily due to weak management systems within institutions. The study proposes that enhancing the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) through governmental support is a critical solution, while the application of information technology is identified as the main strategic priority. The study underscores the need for the government (particularly BWI) and waqf institutions (nazhir) to prioritize a robust cash waqf ecosystem through improved management, professionalization, literacy, and resource allocation. This research contributes to the limited body of literature on cash waqf mobilization by providing a comprehensive model for addressing both internal and external challenges, thereby offering valuable insights for Islamic finance policymakers and practitioners.

Abstract

Online buying and selling is widely done by the public in some e-commerce applications, because of its ease in transacting. In classical studies, especially the 4 largest schools in the world say that buying and selling must meet the pillars of buying and selling, but what happens in online buying and selling many unfulfilled pillars, for example sellers and buyers do not meet in person at one time and place, objects of goods that cannot be seen and selected directly, and unspoken accounts, So many people are questioning this issue. This type of research is qualitative, with the collection of library research data through literature related and relevant to the title of this study. The results of this study showed that in formulating the law of buying and selling in Q.S Al-Baqarah: 275 mufassir such as Ibn Kathir, Al-Qurtubi, Al-Wasith, Al-Jashshash have a classical view that the fulfillment of the pillars of buying and selling is done traditionally (not online buying and selling) and they agree that buying and selling must be fulfilled in harmony. As for the opinion of buying and selling online in bukalapak is not unfulfilled, but does not appear physically. In its fatwa MUI allows online buying and selling, which is seen as the substance of the sale and purchase, as long as the two parties who transact are happy with each other, not unjust, and the goods sold do not contain gharar and are not prohibited goods in Islam.

Abstract

The Palestinian-Israeli conflict has been going on for more than seven decades and has become one of the most complex humanitarian issues in the modern world. Military invasions, land seizures, economic blockades, and human rights violations committed by Israel have sparked global reactions. One form of international response is the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. This study aims to analyze the theological legitimacy of boycotting pro-Zionist products through the perspective of contemporary interpretation of QS. At-Taubah verse 23. The research method used is qualitative based on literature study, with primary sources in the form of the Qur'an and Hadith, as well as secondary sources in the form of contemporary tafsir books such as Tafsir al-Maraghi, Fi Zhilalil Qur'an, Tafsir al-Azhar, Tafsir al-Munir, and Tafsir an-Nur. The results of the study show that QS. At-Taubah verse 23 affirms the principles of wala' (loyalty to Allah and the believers) and bara' (disassociating oneself from those who oppose Islam) and provides a strong basis for Muslims not to support those who oppose Islam, including through the consumption of products. The exegesis scholars agree that faith must be the main basis for determining attitudes, including in terms of shopping and economic support. Boycotts are a tangible form of faith, as well as a way of maintaining solidarity and strength among the ummah. In fact, boycotts have also been proven to weaken companies involved in supporting colonialism, as some of them have experienced a decline in profits due to global boycotts.
