Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy is a strategic initiative by Indonesia's Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to create a more flexible, adaptive, and industry-relevant education system. This study explores the implementation of the MBKM policy at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta and its impact on students, faculty, and administrative staff. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the MBKM implementation at UIN Sunan Kalijaga has led to significant changes in curriculum, teaching methods, and student engagement in off-campus activities. Additionally, the program encourages students to take a more active role in decision-making regarding their educational pathways, enhances curriculum relevance to industry needs, and strengthens students' skills to face workplace challenges. Overall, the MBKM policy at UIN Sunan Kalijaga positively impacts higher education quality by facilitating the development of skills that are more responsive to global changes.

Abstract

Puja Mandala, a complex of places of worship in Bali, Indonesia, is a concrete example of religious moderation within a pluralistic society. Featuring five houses of worship representing five significant religions nearby, Puja Mandala is a site for worship and a space for interfaith dialogue that fosters social peace. This research examines how Puja Mandala has developed peace-building principles, such as enhancing inter-religious dialogue, and how it has become a landscape of religious moderation. This study uses a qualitative approach to explore interfaith interactions at Puja Mandala. Through the dialogue of life and action, the Puja Mandala contributes to establishing interfaith harmony. The findings indicate that Puja Mandala is an effective model for implementing religious moderation, mitigating potential conflicts, and strengthening social solidarity through open communication and mutual respect.

Abstract

Twenty-first century education demands learning approaches that cultivate students’ critical, reflective, and adaptive thinking skills to respond to rapid changes in society. Although deep learning has been widely promoted as a strategy to support transformative education, many elementary schools in Indonesia still rely on conventional, teacher-centered methods, leading to limited student engagement, shallow understanding, and minimal opportunities for reflection and inquiry. This gap between the expected transformative learning practices and the realities of classroom implementation provides an opportunity to investigate how deep learning can be applied effectively at the primary level. This study aimed to explore the implementation of a deep learning system in elementary education and examine its contribution to realizing transformative learning. The research employed a qualitative descriptive design with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation at SD Negeri 46 Pagaralam, South Sumatra Province. The participants consisted of teachers and students directly involved in deep learning practices. The findings show that deep learning was implemented through five strategies. These strategies foster active engagement, higher-order thinking, and the development of human values such as empathy, ethics, and social responsibility. The study concludes that deep learning not only enhances the quality of the learning process but also contributes significantly to students’ cognitive and character transformation. The implications highlight the importance of teacher training, flexible curriculum, and technological support to sustain deep learning implementation in elementary schools.
