Abstract

Chemistry laboratory in Senior High School (SMA) is one of the facilities used to support chemistry learning. With the presence of a chemistry laboratory in school, students will better understand the material by doing practical activities. For that, it is also necessary to pay attention to work safety in the laboratory related to the arrangement and maintenance of the laboratory. For that, community service activities in the form of training on laboratory arrangement related to the materials and equipment in the laboratory have been carried out at SMA Pembangunan Yapis 6 Keerom. The implementation activities have gone well and have a positive impact on learning activities in the chemistry laboratory at the school.

Abstract

Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam pembelajaran kimia peserta didik adalah dengan menyediakan laboratorium. Hasil observasi dan wawancara dengan Guru Kimia dan pihak sekolah tentang keadaan laboratorium serta pemanfaatannya di SMA YPK Diaspora Kotaraja, bahwa dalam pembelajaran kimia telah dilakukan dengan mengunakan metode eksperimen. Pengunaan metode tersebut harus didukung dengan penataan dan penyimpanan bahan yang tertata dengan baik. Kegiatan PKM ini bertujuan untuk melakukan penataan bahan praktikum di laboratorium kimia. Diharapkan dari kegiatan ini ruangan laboratorium kimia sekolah tertata dengan baik sehingga memudahkan guru dalam proses pemeliharaan, memudahkan pengambilan bahan untuk keperluan kerja laboratorium, memudahkan pengontrolan kuantitas maupun kualitas bahan, serta meminimalisir bahaya dan resiko tinggi yang dapat disebabkan oleh sifat dari bahan kimia di laboratorium, sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas praktikum di sekolah.

Abstract

The training is descriptive research that describes the results of implementing the Virtual Chemistry Lab for all prospective chemistry teachers, as well as general science skills. The research subjects for this topic are second and third year chemistry students who have completed basic chemistry courses. This activity lasted for two days and began with the introduction stage of the Chemcollective Virtual Chemistry Lab software, then continued with the implementation stage, especially the application of the use of the Virtual Chemistry Lab and evaluation of its implementation. The results obtained show that students' ability to apply software is quite good and their ability to acquire general scientific skills is around 80% and student responses are very positive at 89%.

Abstract

The gap between theory and laboratory practice often presents a major obstacle in vocational education, particularly within the industrial chemistry competency. This community service initiative was established to bridge this disparity by strengthening the Science Process Skills (SPS) of students at SMK Negeri 8 Jayapura through technical training in Titrimetric and Gravimetric analysis. The implementation method adopted an experiential learning approach, encompassing conceptual presentations, interactive discussions, and direct experimentation. This intervention was designed to cultivate skills in observation, precision measurement, and data interpretation. Evaluation results demonstrated a significant surge in cognitive competence, marked by a 32.3% increase in average test scores. In the psychomotor domain, the majority of students were able to demonstrate analysis techniques with high precision (error <3%). These findings indicate that intensive supervision with an adequate instructor-to-student ratio is effective in building standardized laboratory competencies.
