Abstract

This study investigates the synergistic interaction of chili and tomato plants in an intercropping system of the home courtyard at Ternate City. Studies were carried out from August 2023 to March 2024 at the Maliaro housing complex, implementing a completely randomized design with three replications in the intercropping treatment with a single plant control. The study results show: (a) the synergistic interaction between chili and tomato plants is significant for the variables of plant height, development of leaf area, fruit set in the maximum growth phase, as well as components of chili and tomato fruit yields as measured by fruit weight and the percentage of healthy and damaged fruit. (b) the real synergistic effect of chilies from tomato plants on each chili plant variable, and (c) the effectiveness of the intercropping system is significantly optimal for chili plant production.Keywords: Chili, Tomato, Intercropping, Interaction, Ternate City.

Abstract

Aiming to utilize empty land in the yard of the employee housing complex by planting butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea), at PT GMM, Gane Barat Selatan District, South Halmahera Regency which was implemented by the Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Khairun University, Ternate through a participatory approach, this activity involved mothers in the employee housing complex to understand the benefits and techniques of planting butterfly pea flowers as medicinal ingredients, natural dyes and ornamental plants. The results and discussions showed that the movement to plant butterfly pea flowers in the yard of the employee housing complex was very much responded to by mothers in the PT GMM employee housing complex as part of an attractive and healthy greening of the environment, can reflect a sense of responsibility and concern for employees towards the surrounding environment and the spirit to support the company's program in terms of sustainability and nature conservation.

Abstract

Sistem tanam jajar legowo merupakan salah satu inovasi dalam budidaya padi yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi pertumbuhan tanaman melalui pengaturan jarak tanam dan kerapatan populasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode studi literatur untuk menganalisis respon pertumbuhan tanaman padi (Oryza sativa L.) terhadap variasi jarak tanam dan kerapatan populasi dalam sistem tanam jajar legowo. Kajian ini didasarkan pada berbagai sumber ilmiah yang relevan untuk menggali pengaruh variasi jarak tanam terhadap parameter pertumbuhan seperti tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan produktif, dan hasil gabah per rumpun. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa pengaturan jarak tanam yang optimal dalam sistem jajar legowo dapat meningkatkan efisiensi penyerapan cahaya, sirkulasi udara, dan ruang tumbuh, yang berdampak positif terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif maupun generatif tanaman padi. Kerapatan populasi yang sesuai juga mampu mengurangi kompetisi antar tanaman dan meningkatkan produktivitas lahan secara keseluruhan. Pembahasan lebih lanjut menunjukkan bahwa meskipun sistem jajar legowo telah banyak diterapkan, masih diperlukan penelitian spesifik terkait variasi jarak tanam dan jumlah bibit per rumpun yang paling efektif sesuai dengan varietas dan kondisi agroklimat lokal. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam bentuk sintesis literatur yang dapat menjadi dasar pengembangan rekomendasi teknis budidaya padi yang lebih presisi dan adaptif.
